Microsoft Windows Server Standard 2003 for PC - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Windows cannot connect domain either domain controller is down or
The resolution and workaround to solve the error is as below.
- Login to the Windows 2003 domain controller, and delete the computer account object from the Active Directory by using Microsoft Management Console (MMC) which you can always access from “Manage Your Server”.
- Log-in to the PC workstation as local administrator. If you cannot logon as local administrator, try to unplug the network cable and logon to the computer by using a domain administrator user that used to logon on the PC before, by using cached logon credentials feature.
- Go to Control Panel, then click on System icon, then go to Computer Name tab.
- Unjoin the computer from the domain by clicking on “Change”. You should see that Domain button is now selected. Remember your domain name in the text box. Select (Click) on “Workgroup” to remove the computer from the domain, and put any workgroup name in the text box (e.g. workgroup).
- Click OK to exit.
- Restart the computer (optional)
- Go back to the Control Panel, launch System properties and then go to Computer Name tab, and click on “Change”.
- Rejoin the domain by uncheck the Workgroup button and select (check) Domain button, and put in the domain name noted above into the text box.
- Click OK to exit.
- Reboot the PC.
This should solve the unable to logon to domain error, without changing or losing the user profiles on AD.

What is the difference between unix and linux
UNIX is a operating system which has only command user interface, and if the unix is installed in the system you cant install any other operating system after that ... one separate system must be allocated for the unix ...
LINUX is the graphical user interface and it supports multiple operating system ..
UNIX and LINUX are almost same, almost all commands which supports in UNIX supports in LINUX too .. with some extended features just like GUI(GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE),SECURITY,MULTI USER,MULTI TASKING,etc
COMMAND USER INTERFACE - the input is made to the computer by using commands and the output is obtained by command or by printer ...
GRAPHICAL USER INTERFACE- the input is provided to the computer through the other input devices like mouse, joystick etc
the input is provided either by command or by the just clicking the mouse on the particular icon ...
example for graphical user interface is windows,Macintosh etc ...

What can i do with the Linux
you can do everything what you do with the windows ...
but working with the linux is more complicated than windows ...
any user can use the windows as windows is the user friendly operating system ...
but linux is not so much easy like windows so even the computer experts who are very good in computer with the more knowledge in windows cant work with the LINUX ..
the person who receives the basic training or persist the basic knowledge he only can work with the linux ...
working with LINUX is very different from windows...
so only the LINUX didnt became so much popular like windows as the normal user cant work with it ..
anybody can get the source code of the LINUX and improve it ...
so only it is called as open source as the source code of it is available for free in online ...
thank you

What is the importance of Linux
Linux is an open source free software. If you got a copy of the linux OS, you can install and use it without any fear, unlike windows. Most of the linux OS like Redhat, Fedora, Obundu etc. are feature rich. For more information, visit any linux site and read on.
thank you

Error lotus note
The problem you are experiencing could come from a number of sources. You could be having a version conflict with the OS or a recent update. You could be having a corruption of you Lotus software. You could be having interference from some other background software. Or you could be experiencing an impending failure of your hard drive or other system component. Here are some steps you can take:
1) Re-install Lotus. I generally like to uninstall the software first, then reinstall it, but sometimes just reinstalling does the trick.
2) Do a system restore (if possible) to before when the problem popped up. This insures that it is not a conflict with a recent update.
3) Do an EXTERNAL hard drive scan for viruses. EXTERNAL means pulling the hard drive out, attaching it to another system and using that system to scan for viruses. It is the only way to be 100% certain to catch ALL viruses. Then put the drive back and scan internally for spyware/malware.
4) Turn off all unneeded background programs. Run "msconfig" from a command prompt and turn everything off under the "startup" tab and all the non-Microsoft services under the "services" tab. Restart the system and test. NOTE: this will disable your antivirus and anti-spyware protection so generally stay off the Internet until you turn them back on at the end of the test.
5) Finally, if the problem is still there, do a hard drive scan. But first make sure you have backed up your data! (Just in case the system finds a lot wrong). To scan your drive: Go to "My Computer", right button click on the boot drive (usually the C drive). Select properties, Tools, Check now button. It will tell you that you have to do that when you reboot because you can't do it now. Let it do it when it reboots.
Well, that's the standard set of things we do here to troubleshoot bad software. Personally, I suspect the HD myself since the problem is intermittent. But the other steps may solve the problem without having to drag it into some repair shop.
