Our RQ-8 will not tension up, believe the problem lies in the CL2 magnetic clutch.

If you can lock the cams from turning you won't have to worry about where the crank is situated as there is always a cam lobe that is loaded that will turn the cam just a bit when you take the belt off . The thing that I had done when replacing the timing belt on my ridgeline was to mark the timing belt at a gear tooth for each gear and put a location mark at each mark ( ie CR for crank ) . Then once I had the belt off I transferred the marks to the new belt and put the new belt on aligning the marks to the proper sprockets . The problem that I had was I didn't think about the cam rotating as I took the belt off . But luckily it was only one cam that had moved so I just had to put a socket on the nut and rotate it to where the mark lined up .

Could it be on the ring gear at the back of the engine or on one of the cams if using a timing belt . Could be under a rubber plug on the top of the timing gear covers .

check for correct oil level in the gearbox check for foreign matter in the gearchange linkagesie twigs branches road debris mice you might have to lift the rubber boot around the gear lever and then add some spray grease or oil on the linkage under the boot

first check there is oil in the gearbox at the right level second pull back the rubber boot and look for foreign matter interfering with the gear changer or cabling ie twigs branches and dont laugh rodents! ie those who seek out warm places like exhaust pipes liberally spray some grease or oil over the linkage under the gearchange boot and see if was just dry metal on metal

With the hood open,look at the top of the light there should be a screw that goes down through an ear of the turn sig/mark unit. Take that out-then pry the unit off the truck between the fender and the lamp unit-Cheers-Denny

More than likely the battery is your problem here, I have had this issue before with my mazda bakkie, ended up being a dead cell in my battery, changed the battery and problem was solved.

Remove air box and intake tube and bottom radiator hose. 2 bolts(believe 10mm) on thermostat housing. These systems are a little finicky about air pockets....so fill slowly and let run at idle until operating temp and let cool and check level.....fill as needed and repeat if needed.
