This camera is powered by a 6-volt 2CR5 battery. Check the battery, look at the camera battery condition indicator. If it is all black the battery is fully charged. If it does not show all black or partially black remove the battery and test it with a battery tester. If the battery checks good then look inside the battery compartment making sure it is clean without any battery leakage. Again, if the battery and battery compartment are clean as they should be then it may need a CLA.

Is the camera turned on; okay simple question but sometimes that is all that is needed. Look in the battery compartment is it clean, does it have battery corrosion? Sometimes the wires in the battery compartment become corroded thus not making a connection. If so a CLA will be needed.

Batteries good? Contacts clean? If battery leakage clean and retest. Is the camera autofocusing? Did this start after you loaded film? Did the camera advance to 1?

What about the first frame? We need more information!

Any camera store will carry 35mm film, color or black&white, transparency or negative. A narrower selection will also be available at many department or drug store, as well as some supermarkets.

Try fresh batteries. Check for corrosion from leaking batteries on contacts and where battery compartment snaps onto battery door. Clean corrosion if there. If you do not measure over 6 volts at the two metal contacts on the door, then this is probably the problem (very common). Otherwise, failure of motor, loose screw in transport gearing unit on top

Sorry to hear you're having troubles with your Minolta. First thing I would do is make sure that the batteries you put in our good and that you do have power coming out of that battery box. He didn't mention whether the batteries had corroded or if there had been any corrosion previously. The rewind button on this camera will not reset until the camera again advances. In other words it is an automatic release on the camera fires the first time after a rewind. So as an beginning answer to your question I would check the batteries again make sure that all contacts are absolutely clean and as you may have noticed the battery boxes on the Minolta do pivot.
