120 or 240 spa? how long does the heater stay on? how do you know the heater even comes on? Try cleaning the filter, then check.

Hi, this is John the Hayward tech. If you are now seeing the #4 fuse go that is on the low voltage side. I would guess the main circuit board. I left a manual on your other post.

if you are using a hayward control panel, either change the timer or push the 'service' button once. if it is a seperate timer, turn off the breaker to the timer

the code is IF. it stands for ignition failure. If the control exceeds the maximum number of ignition retries or recycles the heater will shut down and go into lockout. Automatic reset is 60 minutes.

when heater is cooled, remove top and clean out debris. if there is no debris, the color of smoke will indicate problem. white: condensation, rainfall etc burning off. black: burner not firing properly and sooting up. have unit serviced - clean burner assy, verify adequate gas pressure

Not enough water flow! Either a

• bypass valve is open all the way, and reducing water flow into heater
• Worn/broken internal bypass - unitherm governor
• Blockage of some sort reducing water flow, in circulation line

When something like the above is present, the minimal water flow, gets super heated really fast when heater is on and firing! So hot in fact, that the water turns to Steam Instantly! and the steam is a very Volatile substance! Remember? It was once used to move Locomotives! get this fixed asap! call a pool / spa professional for assistance in evaluating your next step. Good Luck.

you dont you either replace themotor and seals or get a new pump

First... is the pump running? If not, find out why. Is the circuit breaker tripped? Does it have a switch? Is the switch turned off?

need more info is wiring correct is it on a timer check on side of motor see what power is coming in you might have to change wires if 120 volt

pool pumps have a start capacitor, not a solenoid. if you plan to change this yourself, BE CAREFUL. there is enough electricity to give a horrible shock. also, make sure to replace it with the exact same capacitor (written on the capacitor). most businesses that sell them will usually test the suspected faulty unit at no charge

you cannot they dont sell bearings get number of pump and motor you will have to replace the motor if you can get it make sure to get the seals

IF means ignition failure make sure gas supply is correct pressure make sure heater is wired correctly usually if wired 120 volt you have to change wiring to accomidate that voltage if wired correctly and is 120 volt reverse black and white wires

HS = High Limit Sensor Heaters Maximum Water Temperature has been Exceeded. A few reasons this occurs...

• Low water flow thru heater, check :
  • Dirty Filter
  • Opened By Pass Valves
  • Plugged pump impeller
  • Dirty/Full baskets at skimmer or pump
  • Anything that may reduce water flow
• Sensor could actually be doing its job, in a different aspect, Thermostat failure, and water is overheating in spa or pool?

But anyway, your heaters fault code you asked about is: hs, not h5

need more info if connecting to 120 volts you must change the motor shunting see side of pump motor some you have to change the brown and white wires and some you turn a knob from 240 to 120
