Suddenly, while watching TV, our TC-L42U25

The main board (Panasonic calls it the "A board") has detected a fault in the power to the LCD panel. Most likely the 12 Volt section of the power supply (P board) has failed, but the problem could be the main board or LCD panel. The troubleshooting procedure can be found in the technical manual for this series (link below). There's a good chance the problem is burned-out electolytic capacitors on the power supply board; these are often identifiable visually. Good capacitors have a flat top, but burned-out units will have the top domed out by internal overpressure. See the photo for examples. The capacitor in front and the one to the right with the glue on it are good; the two marked capacitors are bad. You can unplug the TV and look at the power supply (board on the center left with a cable going to the power cord socket). (Do not touch the board for at least ten minutes after the TV is unplugged; the main input capacitor can retain a high voltage charge for some time.) If you remove the power supply for service, only handle it by the edges, and do not put it in or on a plastic bag unless you know the bag is anti-static. Static electricity can destroy the chips and transistors on the board, even small charges on your fingers that you don't feel. Replace bad capacitors with capacitors having the same uF (micro-Farad) size, the same or higher voltage rating, the same or better temperature rating, and high ripple current and lifetime ratings. I strongly recommend using the Panasonic FR series capacitors for this application. If a higher voltage rated capacitor fits in the space (including vertical space), spend a few extra pennies on it because it will generally have a higher ripple current rating and longer life. Note: the polarity stripe on the new capacitor must go in the same way as the original; putting the capacitor in backwards will destroy it as soon as power comes on. Replacement requires electronic soldering skills for static-sensitive circuits. Panasonic TC L42D2 Technical Manual Table Of Contents badcap-hpuh5514d5amjgvbhupbjqks-4-0.jpeg

TV keeps shutting of after

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.

When power button is pressed

Same thing using the power button on the TV.
Try unplugging it for about an hour to let it reset itself, if still does not work, then you will have to take it apart.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

Forgot my password I cant watch any channels

Hi,

The easiest way is to reset the TV. There are 3 possible resets for this TV. press and hold Action and Power on the TV until self check appears-- then unplug the TV wait for 30 sec. then plug back in. The reset should take care of any channel lock/ game guard settings

Also Volume down on unit and sleep on remote. Same process wait for self check then unplug for 30 sec. plug back in and turn on.

Last Volume down on the unit and RH-Split on the remote-- same process
hope this will be helpfull. Please rates me . Goodluck...................

HI There, I have a TCL PDP42U3H, voltages on power

I was a little confused as the model is a Plasma Screened set and you wrote LCD. Not to worry. In the old days, people were told that the display on plasma screens needed to be "re-gassed", this is nonsense. The gas goes no where and is inert anyway, made up of elements like neon, argon and a few other choice U/V emmiting products.
I would say you have a power supply problem in conjuntion with a video pedastal problem. The plasma screen has a half life of some 17000 hours, which is enough for ones eyes to turn square. Thereafter the same again until the picture dulls dow to a still acceptable level.
The supply voltage is not the critical one it is the bias voltage on the video processing that is all important. Do you remember the old colour TV's with pedastel problems and negative/inverted colours, (ITT CVC9 comes to mind instantly here).
If you have a service manual, check the waveforms around the video processor for inconsistencies, if you haven't it is a workshop repair anyway but without a manual you have no real way of knowing what you are looking for.
Hope that sheds some light on your problem.

Panasonic hds700tds playing audio no videos

  1. Check the Input Source: Make sure you have selected the correct input source on your TV for the device you are using. Use the remote control to cycle through the input options until you find the one connected to your video source.
  2. Check Video Connections: Ensure that all video cables (such as HDMI, component, or composite cables) are securely connected between your TV and the device you are trying to watch content from. A loose or faulty cable connection could result in a loss of video signal.
  3. Restart the TV and Video Source: Try restarting both your TV and the device you are trying to watch content from. Power off both devices, wait a few moments, and then power them back on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or issues with the video signal.
  4. Check for Software Updates: Make sure your TV's firmware is up-to-date. Sometimes software updates can resolve compatibility issues or bugs that may be affecting video playback. Check the settings menu on your TV for an option to update the firmware, or visit the manufacturer's website for instructions on how to do so.
  5. Reset Video Settings: If you've made any changes to your TV's video settings, such as resolution or picture mode, try resetting them to their default values. This can sometimes resolve issues with video playback.
  6. Try a Different Device: If possible, try connecting a different device (such as a DVD player or gaming console) to your TV to see if the issue persists. This can help determine whether the problem lies with the TV itself or with the original device you were using.
  7. Contact Panasonic Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible there may be a hardware problem with your TV. In this case, you may need to contact Panasonic customer support for further assistance or to schedule a repair.
  8. Hope this helps

I have a Panasonic 50-in flat screen TV a storm came by and knocked out my TV and my Yukon no breaker was off so did it come through the antenna please help

  1. Check the Power Cord: Ensure that the power cord is securely plugged into both the TV and the power outlet. Make sure there are no visible signs of damage to the power cord or the plug.
  2. Inspect the Power Outlet: Try plugging another electronic device (such as a lamp or a phone charger) into the same outlet to verify if it is functioning properly. If other devices work fine, then the issue is likely not with the power outlet.
  3. Check for Tripped Circuit Breakers: Check your circuit breaker or fuse box to see if a circuit breaker has been tripped or a fuse blown. If so, reset the circuit breaker or replace the fuse and try plugging in your TV again.
  4. Test with Different Power Source: If possible, try plugging your TV into a different power source altogether, such as a different room or building. This will help determine if the issue is specific to the power source you were previously using.
  5. Contact Panasonic Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue and your TV still does not power on, it's likely that there is a hardware problem with the TV itself. In this case, you may need to contact Panasonic customer support for further assistance or to arrange for repairs. Be sure to provide them with details of the troubleshooting steps you've already taken.
Hope this helps
