I have a model VS 50111 and the colors are out of

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Below are more details for both items. Also, complete repair kits with instructions and repair support are avail from site such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

My system is hooked up

I believe you have to have two different input sources and then select which sources to use the PIP option. That's the case with my phillips tv. Hope this works for you.

I went to turn on

When the power light comes on and then goes out, on the front of the set press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will blink a 2 digit error code and repeat it at least 5 times.

The most common error will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks- a pause and then it will repeat it for a total of at least 5 times.

To get it to repeat this--you have to unplug the set, try to turn it on again and repeat the process.

The error codes are to try to narrow down where the problem is.

LET ME KNOW WHAT CODE YOU FIND AND I WILL HELP.

When i turn it on it stays on for about 2 seconds

Model indicated is 2002 model. It should have the self check feature:

When you turn on and green light goes off: On the front of the set press and hold both the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and then repeat it several times.

Let me know (comment here) what error code you see and I will tell you what it means.

I was given a Mitsubishi vs-50111 I was told all

You need to be concerned about the convergence board. This is the board with all the RCA jacks and RF connections. Pull this board out. You will see two very large cooling fins [heat sinks] with two large ICs [black with about 15 pins each. Marked with #392 ---] I don't know the exact# right now. Replace these Ics. And check the small resistors that stand tall next to theses Ics, replace if necessary! Let me know what you find. Thanks for asking me!

Can not turn off the vchip channel lock on hd 1080

hello try this Bypassing the V-Chip Lock
After you set the lock, you need your
passcode to view a V-Chip locked program,
view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter
the V-Chip lock menus.
If you forget your passcode, you can
view the locked TV without entering your
passcode. This is done by pressing the
number 9 and QV buttons on the remote
TV control at the same time, when your
password is requested. This process
temporarily unlocks the TV.
When entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this
process deletes your old passcode and
prompts you to enter a new passcode. good luck
