Start up problem

Bill;

Cause 1
1. VERTICAL ROLLING, VERTICAL BLANKING BAR LOCKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE, ALSO MAY HAVE HORIZONTAL PULLING OR TEARING. CHECK C2C52 10 UFD @ 50 V OFF THE BASE OF Q2C51 ON THE SIGNAL PCB.

2. CHECK C2P05 100 UFD 16 V OFF PIN 3 OF IC2P01 AND IC2P01 PART # 270P466020 (9-VOLT REGULATOR). BOTH ARE ON THE SIGNAL PCB.
Replace all these if they look bad or not. If you can't do it yourself call a service Company and get an estimate, it should cost about $450 if they know what they are doing.
Thanks using FixYa, Big Irish.

Diamond screen

Not sure why you want to remove the protective screen but to do this you have to remove the entire screen with frame and all 3 screens from the set. remove speaker grill(s) on front of set; you will find if the front control board is in the frame of the screen you will have to locate one or two plugs to disconnect the keyboard--the wires usually go down in past an inspection plate and can be unplugged(they are marked with letters and if two, they will be different so you cannot get them in the wrong way).

With the keyboard unplugged you will find several black philips screws on the bottom edge of the screen frame(left to right under it). Remove these and with help lift the screen unit(frame and screens) up about 4 inchs(it hooks inside on notched holders) It will then come out.

Now the hard part---most of these sets you have to remove both inner screens and even take the screen frame apart to get at the front screen---any finger prints on the screen may show in the picture.. The protective Screen is in a slot all the way around--I have seen a few who tried to pry it out from the front and either damaged the frame or the screens.

Again, I am not sure why you want to remove the outer protective screen---but just be careful if you do---those inner screens are very expensive if you have to replace them.

If this has been helpful at all--give me a vote here---I do this for free.

Vertical lines that scoll the screen picture.

Ok this problem is coming from either your tv sets vertical circuit or the tuner itself is faulty, most likely the problem is coming from your vertical circuit with bad solder on the vertical ic or you have a faulty capacitor which can also cause this problem what i would suggest unless you have electronic experience on troubleshooting electronic components is to take it to near by tv repair shop and have then troubleshoot this circuit to see which component is giving you this problem, thank you, hope this helps.

When I turn the set on it immediately clicks off.

Feel fortunate for the 10 years; owners of sets failing just after the warranty are really angry.
That length of time tells me that the power supply was better designed than most but is now failing to turn on and run. Modern supplies are very complex and demand a high level of component quality, far more so than the older (and less efficient) type called 'linear.'
The supply assembly is almsot always on a separate board and you should be able to recognize it through the relationship to the AC power coming in and the fact that they will have physically larger components, some cylindrical (capacitors) and others block-like devices (chokes and transformers.)
Look for an assembly number on that unit and contact Mitsubishi service to inquire about the replacement and/or repair cost of that board.
You really have been lucky since most modern sets don't run half that time without failing.

Video is double and no sound

This model TV is known for coolant leakage from the picture tubes. If this is your problem you will find liquid on the circuit board by removing the back panel. The spilled liquid causes a plethora of problems depending on where the liquid collects on the circuit board.
Also possible convergence IC failure.

Mitsubishi rear projection tv - picture does not come through

Finding information on the is particular brand was not an easy task. I had previously thought it may have been in need of a lamp replacement.

However doing some research on this particular model I found out it is an older CRT (Cathode Ray Tube). What the problem with your television is that a repair person would have to run a diagnostic with your TV. Which often can be quite expensive.

Your TV has 3 different imaging sources a Red, Blue, and Green. Anyone of these could be causes your TV to do this. It maybe just one, maybe 2 or even all 3. Replacement parts for this TV is not an easy find. I ended up finding similar parts on eBay.

Your best bet would to be call an TV repair person to diagnose the problem. Or buy a new LCD or DLP TV. I am sure it is not news you want to hear. But this is the only help I am able to give.

Vertical bars and lines run up and down the screen. Need service manual or parts outlet

There is no such thing as a "vertical sweep circuit board" in that set. The vertical circuit is part of the sweep module. And BTW that type of symptom is more often a power supply filtering problem anyway.

I have a Mitsubishi Rear Projection tv (vs-50705).

Well, you did the right first step. However, when the convergence outputs toast up they sometimes cause other problems. First would be the fuses that supply them voltage. These are pico fuses back in the power supply. Second would be open supply resistors that have opened up because of the excessive current draw caused by the whacked out convergence amps. When changing the outputs doesn't solve the problem it takes the repair out of the realm of the do-it-yourselfer. My recommendation is to let a professional take over.

No Power

Good Day, PCMcGee; To start try these: This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB. Good Luck, big IRISH.
