Mitsubishi VS-50605 50" Rear Projection Television - Page 8 Questions & Answers
TV problem
you have to lift one leg out of circuit and touch the leads to each end of the diode then reverse them and take the second reading,
TV problem
Use the analog meter reverse your probes you should get no reading one way and get a reading when the probes are reversed. You will need a diode vhecker to test for a leaky diode as often times a diode will fail under load. Its best to replace a questionable diode if you dont have an actual diode checker meter.

yes here is the link to get the service manual. It cost 12.99 but they provide free support to help with diagnosing and locating parts. They will email it out to you within minutes of ordering. I have used them many times, they have real good service manuals with full parts list

Most likely a high voltage leak. Is the static on menus as well? If there is a leak of high voltage, you should be able to hear it as well. Some of these sets leaked coolant from the picture tubes. A close visual inspection of all printed circuit boards should reveal this.
TV problem
Check the diodes and regulators out of circuit that feed the IC especially pin 1 and pin 4

Let me go over the schematics and I will post what i can find that maypossibly keep taking out the IC

Vertical sync problem. This issue could be related to faulty capacitors on the PIP module, as the vertical sync runs through the PIP module. If you would like to know how to by pass the module to test if it is the PIP module let me know and will post the procedure.
Tv problem
Check the connections on your front control panel PCB to see if they are all secure then trace them back to where the plug into the chassis and check the connection there as well
TV problem
1) Unplug the AC cord.
2) Connect a 100 Ohm resistor (R) between
pins 4 and 5 of the IC951. This discharges C960
that may still be charged if the Over Voltage
Protect circuit was activated.
3) Remove the 100 Ohm resistor and apply
power to the set.
If the problem still exists, the IC is probably defective.

Over Current Protection
Pin 1 of IC951 is also the Over Current Protect input.
The internal FET.s ground return is at pin 2 of
the IC. The voltage drop across R955 and R956
indicates the FET.s current, and is coupled through
R953 to pin 1 of the IC. The Over Current Protect
circuit is activated if the voltage at pin 1 of the IC
exceeds 1.35 volts.
Stabilization and rough regulation are provided by
feedback from pin 3 of T951 to pin 1 of the IC. Fine
regulation feedback is from a secondary supply,
through the Photo Coupler, PC951, to pin 1 of IC951.
Its possible that Diode D953 is leaky allowing the voltage to rise on pin 1 of the IC
DEAD TV
Look for 2 resistors off of pin 2 of IC951 R955 & 956 they are hooked in parralell and the tail end of those resistors are grounded.

You will need to have what's called the convergence correction IC's replaced. This is not really a hard job to do but takes a skill of knowing how to solder and unsolder on printed circuit boards. A pro could do this repair and clean the optics for less then 400 bucks. Good Luck
Connecting component video YPbPr to TV with BNC port for RGBHV
No, this will not work. Picture will roll vertically. Originally they intended for HDTV to be red, green, blue, & Horizontal, Vertical sync. That changed after the first generation mitsubishi's.
In the service menu you can change the settings for the HDTV Input. Try that first by "Hitting menu button followed by 1259" or menu 1257. Let me know how that works for you, If you need a different code for service menu...contact me again and i will look it up for you. But the answer to your question is you can make it work or you can purchase a 300.00 box that will allow you to switch to that input thru..mitsubishi.tv.com
Good luck and keep me posted. GURU JAY

tube has a reservoir on the front of it with a fluid in it. this keeps the face of the tube cool.
this depends on how bad the damage is in the tv. in most cases we can reseal the tube and clean up the fluid 400-600.
Once you
take the tube out you will see where it leaked. The problem is that the
frame on the CRT that the heavy screws with springs are mounted on (that
hold the lens coupled to the CRT) is weak and they can bend. We have seen
several that have leaked after the customer moved the set. You can only
tighten them down so much because the frame bends. It is just stamped metal
and not welded at the corners to support the bend.
We remove the CRT, clean it all up, add a very small amount of RTV sealer to
the gasket, reassemble, let the RTV cure thoroughly and refill with coolant.
The extra sealer should prevent future leaks. Haven't had a recall yet.
Mits says replace the CRT...too costly.
You msut check the yokes carefully as well. If any coolant gets into them
you can end up with shorts there and a mess.and bad caps

Mitsubishi Vs-50605 TV dead
First thing on a Dead VZ7 to check is the solder connection at the yokes "DY" Connector. Then Check C411 2200uf @ 35V
Then C412 10uf @50V. Then Check IC700 Pin 20 for 0VDC any voltage other than 0VDC on that pin means Diode D980 is leaky.
Hope this helps. If you need anything further let me know.

Power supply problem either the horizontal output or regulators are most likely shorted.
Horizontal lines and screen bounce
These sets have capacitors that will go bad, but without a good ERS meater that tests these in curcuit you could be spending a lot of time doing nothing, But the most common is to find the 9 volt reg on the signal board and change all within a 2 inches of that regulator
