Mitsubishi VS-50605 50" Rear Projection Television - Page 3 Questions & Answers
After 2 hours the tv blacks out and we have to
You have a problem with the dm board which is all the way to the left in a metal casing when looking at the back of the unit .There are four big capacitors in a group that will need to be replaced because they are getting old and cant hold there electrical charge anymore.
Left tv unplugged for a few months no tv won't turn on
The first thing to do is try to turn on the set with the remote and then when it doesn't respond go to the set and hold down the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time until the power LED starts blinking a two sequence code. Like 2 - 4 or 1 - 2. The code will keep blinking for five or six times and stop. The blinking is the microprocessor telling you why the set is not working. We techs call that a self diagnostic function. Which this set has. Just repost your findings.

Go to your Menu then Look for Audio /Volume see if it has been turned OFF and if it is OK CK speakers and on Back of TV see if they have a switch for Internal sound or External sound Do the Same on your Menu and if All of that Checks out to be OK then it will be your Audio output IC.Replace it.

This is most likely due to a faulty overheated, burnt out capacitor for the audio output. You will need an ohmmeter and test the bottom of the board where the caps attach, and find the one that is out of range. You will need a special discharge tool to draw out the power it holds, then solder out and reinstall new one. You can probably get one at tigerdirect.com

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER
LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.
PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv
for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.
Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:
1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error
2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection
2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******
2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem
2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem
******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the
fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no
voltage to convergence IC and shut down.
SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO
GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.
IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

In the powersupply board, you have two H.O.T,replace these, including the small transistor that is between these [this is a high speed switch that governs the voltage of these transistors mentioned. AND CERTAINLY CHECK ALL THE CAPS. Especially the 200/250volt 1 or 2.2 ,4.7MF.Usually under 10MFs. And check the Vertical IC and its caps. This is a good start on repair...good luck!
What kind of solder do i use and were is the
- To find the IC follow the 4 wires that come from the Yoke (which is a contained coil of wires slipped over the neck of the picture tube(s)) back to the board. 2 of the wires go to the horizontal o/p and 2 to the Vertical o/p the thinner gauge wires are for the vertical.

Yes the yolk would cost about $1000 to replace. I would not recommend doing it your self. After the new one is installed you need to adjust it so the pic. is right.
I hope this help your with a decision. Good Luck
We have a 52 inch
Definitely not a DIY unless you have electronic knowledge and the right tools to retune it. The parts required arew about 6-700$ and it takes aqbout 2-3 hrs of labour so $1000 is cheap
Thanks for usiong FIXYA
Shaky picture
You have a bad electrolytic capacitor on the convergence board...i think it is a 16volt 220mf....located near the 9volt reg. You will need a cap checker and some one who can replace it. Been a long time since i repaired one of these ageing sets. But that is exactly what you are looking for.

Hi,
If you were not able to change the red convergence horizontal then you have to change the STK393-110 ICs.
This IC mainly deals with the red convergence horizontal and it is situated near the STK392-110 IC.
please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

Vertical output IC bad capacitors in vertical circuit 100uf 35v sometimes vertical IC needs to be resolder and that fixes problem look for poor solder joint s.
