My 5 year old Mitsubishi WS-55819 projection TV has a power problem. When I press the power button it turns on for about 2 seconds and then turns itself off. The picture doesn't come onto the screen as the power cuts off so quickly. I opened the back and there is a small black diode type thing (possibly a relay) on the middle PC board towards the back that clicks when it turns on and off. Someone suggested a leak from the 3 bulbs could be a cause but I cannot see any leaking substances anywhere. Does anyone have a suggestion to figure out what's wrong? I don't have electrical test equipment for troubleshooting. Thank you...
This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. The issue I have with my tv is similar to the other power down issues. I press the on button and you can hear the relay turn on, tv charges up but no picture and then you can here the relay turn off. The reason the tv is doing this is because it was disrupted by a lightening strike outside the house. I placed the tv into diagnostic mode and it spit out the 2-4 code. I checked the 9 fuses on the two boards and they all passed a continuity test. I then started to check the 3 boards for any visible failure and I think I found the cause! A failure of the PNP 12v switch labeled Q9A20. Here are two pics. Your technical guidance would be appreciated. do you think I can just soilder this again or should the component be replaced? I looked and found radio shack sells a similar component but i am not sure if it is the same. Thank you for your time.
try to solder it first if dont work u can get the same part on yhe net

I do not have a remote but I need to set up the DVD player to the TV to play movies. I have used the buttons on the front of the TV to get around but not sure of where to go to get it to play the DVD. Can you help!
MY MEDALLION WILL NOT TURN ON THE GREEN LITE IS GOING ON AND OFF THAT SAYS TIMER ON CAN U TELL ME THE PROBLEM.

Today my power to my home has been going off and on alot. I noticed about an hour after the power has been on that the green light (power/timer) will not stop blinking. I have hit the reset a few times holding it in for 20 seconds and its still blinking nonstop. So what could be going on with it?

should be like 1 pause then a 2 or something

I have a Mitsubishi 55 inch rear projection tv, ws55819 on which the convergance is gone bad. I'm getting a concave picture with multiple colors. Repair shop estimates are $340-420.00 Can I replace the convergance chip? If so, where do I get them and how do I do it? Is it worth the cost and effort for a 7 yr. old TV?
Yes you will need to replace both of the STK392-570 Convergence ICs and the two 5 amp pico fuses. You can get the parts at the following link and they provide instructions with pictures that show how to do the repair. Heres the link'

WS-55819 TV, about 8 years old, stopped working. No picture, just black. When trying to turn on, power light appears for a couple seconds, then turns off. No other indications of life.
My kids witnessed the death of it, and describe it as a sudden disappearance of the picture accompanied by a noise - a popping or mild explosion/crashing sound -- they're very young, so not sure just how dramatic the sound really was.
DO THE SELF CHECK YOUR SET HAS:
When you turn it on and power light goes off in a few seconds;
On the front of the set push and hold both the Menu and Input (Device) buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.
Power light will then blink a two digit code, most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code at least 5 times.
Let me know what code you find and I will tell you what it means and maybe what is wrong with your tv.
I hope you find 2,2, as that is the most easy to fix.

I have an mitsubishi medallion hd1080 big screen tv model# ws-55819 getting code 1,2. (hold the menu and input)
Try to unplug set and try it again as if the set was unplugged and then the self check done it will be 1,2 which means NO ERROR detected.
Let me know also what the set does?

I have a 55 inch mitsubishi HD 1080 projection tv WS-55819 model. The picture goes in and out between a good picture and one that is this whitish hazy foggy picture. I thought originally it was my cable but that has been found not to be the case. In addition, if it is not foggy then the picture skews with the edges of the picture being rounded and a separation of the colors occurs. What could this problem be?
SOUNDS like you have bad filtor capacitors in 9v and 5v circuits. J.D.W.

My Mitsubishi Medallion tv stays on for about 10 minutes and then shuts down and won't turn back on until a period of time has passed. It is a rear projection tv about 9 years old. Can anyone help explain the problem?
When it shuts off and the green power light goes off, press both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set (not the remote) and hold both for about five seconds and release.
Power light will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks and then 3 blinks and repeat it several times.
What is the error code?
