Mitsubishi wt-42313 switching tv format problems

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Mitsubishi convergence issue

First is consider what the issue is: nothing moves convergence wise or only one color etc. Also follow if needed the voltages from the pico fuses involved---one will be a negative voltage and the other a positive one--follow them from the diodes for each voltage to the chips---"Got Voltages?"

What is a thermal fuse

Fuses fall in several shapes and forms. All for example 3 amp fuses are not the same--some are quick acting, some slow blow, and some thermal--react faster than the first two types. The model listed here for example has at least one glass fuse but has several pico fuses also--they do not look like fuses in this set but are marked with amperage next to them--in the case of these types NEVER replace them with a glass fuse.IF you have the model listed above let me know what is wrong-- I know them very well.6_2_2012_5_35_52_pm.jpgnote the green parts--the two that are circled in this Mitsubishi board go to the convergence circuit and can be tested like any other fuse--amperage is marked on top of board along with a location number. In this set if one of the two circled ones is bad set will not come on and when a self check is done it will have a 2,2 error code. Turns on clicks back off

Good day!!!!That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..1. Open the back cover of your TV.2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

Staggered convergence

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Hi hommyhommy,
If the symptom didn't cure by convergence adjustment through the remote, you need to replace the convergence IC and some of the resistor because it was gone bad. You may also replaced the entire convergence board for your convenient. If the board replaced with new one, your unit will back to normal again.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Blinks on and off Mitsubishi

This is an indication that you have a problem on the power supply section or on the load because of the following reasons :

1. Over Voltage - the regulator might be cycling on over voltage due to lack of load.

2. Over Current Protection - excessive load or faulty power supply cycling will

trigger the over current protection circuit.

3. Leaky Capacitor - a dried up main filter capacitor or other filter capacitor in the low voltage power supply that is producing an out-of-regulation condition until it warms up. A bad filter capacitor on the output of a series regulator may result in excessive voltage and subsequent shutdown.

4. A problem with the microcontroller, relay or its driver, or standby power supply.

This is not DIY and quite technical so I

When the power light comes on and then goes out, on the front of the set press both the MENU and INPUT buttons at the same time and hold them both in for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will blink a 2 digit error code and repeat it at least 5 times.

The most common error will be 2 blinks, 2 blinks- a pause and then it will repeat it for a total of at least 5 times.

To get it to repeat this--you have to unplug the set, try to turn it on again and repeat the process.

The error codes are to try to narrow down where the problem is.
If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Let me know what error code is found and I will tell you what it means.

You have to replace the stk 392-250's(convergence ic's) and possibly a resistor or two. We've fixed several of these. It will probably cost between $250.00 - $350.00 from most repair shops to fix.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY

Locked out

Most of these sets have a keyboard lock used so children cannot change inputs etc and it usually can be turned off by holding the menu button in for about ten seconds.

THE SET SHOULD STILL WORK WITH A REMOTE!

If it does not work with a remote and comes on for a moment and then the power light goes out----the set is in shutdown and I can tell you how to do the built in self check this set has for this.

Either the keyboard is locked or the set is actually in shutdown.
