Ricoh Aficio 1018D Copier - Page 4 Questions & Answers
Do we need CD installer if we will use this
It depends, you will need the drivers either from the CD or from a folder on a network share no matter how you setup the printer when you're printing directly to the printer.
But if you attach one Windows machine to it and then share it, the computer will install the driver automatically when you attach to the shared printer on that machine as long as the operating systems share the same driver.
Furthermore, you can also install the driver for other operating systems in the printer properties.
Sc650
Hi there,
Can you explain further details of the problem with your Aficio 1018D copier? Is "sc650" an error code you are getting?
Looking forward to help you.
Can MAC OSX 10.5.x use Ricoh Aficio 1018D?
this is an older model copier, however try going to
www.savin.com and click downloads then drivers. there will be a tab for drivers, this is 10.5 though not snow leopard. Ricoh/Savin/gestetner and Lanier are all the same copier, but savin site has more mac info than Ricoh site. Usually I have better luck using already installed Mac drivers than Gutenprint, if you type in the ip it should give you a list of preinstalled Mac drivers. I believe the Ricoh 1018 corresponds to a Savin 2518 if that helps. Also use print daemon, not ipp. hope this helps somewhat as Macs are difficult with options and such on most printers. also must use PS3 for best results.

Aficio 2035 S/P: toner leak
Four things to look for here.....
1. Did you remove the inner top of the toner bottle? The clear one. That will create a mess. Only remove the black cap.
2. The seal between the toner hopper and the top of the photoconductor unit has been damaged. Need to replace or fix this. You can see the seal around the hole in the pcu when you pull the toner hopper out.
3. The claws in the toner hopper that grab the top of the toner bottle are bound up or the release mechanism (green handle area) is messed up. Clean if you can or replace worn parts.
4. If the copies are getting light, then the plastic 'scoopers' inside of the toner hopper are damaged. You will need to disassemble the receptacle the toner bottle fits into and repair the 'scoopers'. If they are still there, just glue them back on.

Open the front and right covers and remove the toner bottle holder unit.
Pull out the Photoconductor unit(PCU) with your thumb pressing on the latch on the left side of the PCU.
Separate the top part from(drum) the bottom part(developer unit), by removing the front piece 1 screw and rear piece 2 screws and 1 coupling(pull out).

Set the coupling removed, back to the shaft and turn the coupling to remove the developer from the roller.

Paper a misfeed
not sure if you are talking about two papers jammed in different locations or at different times?
first thing would be to clean the tires that pick up the paper, if too smooth then replace. sounds like a timing issue.paper getting stuck halfway in the fuser c(if no other paper jammed) can be Seperation is off causing the paper to rise onto the drum creating a time lapse, paper tansport belt (in the machine after the drum) is not turning ok, or as simple as wrong size paper Letter in machine but says Legal 8 1/2 x 14

SC101 ERROR MESSAGE
I'm not familiar with your exact model but for small ricohs....Sc101 means that the standard white level was not detected. When you first turn on your machine the scanner scans a white plate (you will find this plate under the glass or frame near the park position of the scanner (facing down towards the scanner). The scanner will try to take a quick scan of this white plate so it knows the difference between white and black.
You will get this error if anything is preventing the scanner from seeing this plate (exposure lamp not working, Blocked scanner, or more likely a dirty white plate.
Remove the glass, get a mirror and try to find the plate and then clean it with windex. When you turn on machine the scanner will try to scan this white plate( make sure scanner is not getting hung up on anything.
For original size your machine may use paper size sensors that look like small black boxes with two black eyes (under the glass looking up towards the original) make sure these eyes are clean.
Regarding your doc feeder I need more info ( does it attempt to work, etc) describe what it does when you try to use it.
