the tv has a fault most often the backlight system on the panel so take it to the tv shop its too hard to repair LCD backlights unless you have the right tools and jigs for the panel to be lifted off correctly they should charge around £50 max ....

looks like the same problem i have with my 32" acer tv, it seems to be a problem of acer TVs get someone to check the capacitors in the power supply.... I think one might be bad.

Make sure the item connected to the component is turned on. Also try a different TV or take it to a friend and see if it works there. That will at least narrow it down to the TV, cable, or the actual component.
