NORCENT PT -4233

Norcent PT4233 no picture, black screen, but has sound. How to repair

The display (PDP - Plasma Display Panel) at the heart of this unit is a LG 42V7 model. There is a known bad solder "defect" on the YSUS board that causes this board to fall unexpectedly.

The bad news is that you have to replace all the primary boards on the display - ZSUS, YSUS and CTRL boards, as the failure can/often takes them all out.

The good news is that LG makes a repair kit for this panel. Its part number is 687VSNB03E and it contains the three boards LG6871QYH036D (Y SUSTAIN), LG6871QZH041B (Z SUSTAIN) and LG6871QCH053G (CTRL).

Hope this helps

Need the code for a norcent tv with my unimote controler

Set-up (Programming) procedure is too much to type in here, and is not practical and it will differ brand-to-brand remote controls. If you wish to get more; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. One among it has general set-up codes to check with TVs and other devices are given, in the order of the 'device's brand name list' in alphabetical order. Pull up older posts. Search the sites by type in the brand name to your device in its search box at the top right part of the display window. It will help you to find the document easily. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/

Can't get closed captioning to go away,,, can't find it on the menue does anyone know how

Check whether there is a "CC" button on the remote control. If you are using a universal remote control, it might not have this button. As there is no selection for closed caption in the TV menu options, its original remote control will have this CC button. If you are the original remote, press this button once.

No picture on Norcent LT-2790 bk

There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is with it deflection yoke connection. If this connection have any loose contact at main board side, horizontal sweep pulses will be absent to deflection yoke. Check this plug in connection first. If it is OK, check and replace the CRT connection socket.

you need to set the computer to display on another monitor. You don't say what kind of compture you are trying to hook up, but generally if you right click on your screen and then click either "settings" if XP or "screen resolution" if Windows 7 you can find an option to use the tv as a monitor. most laptops will have the option to "display on projector" option. These alll vary with each computer model, but you have to tell the computer to display on your tv, most won't do it automatically

The remote will not turn

The problem is not with the remote, your set has developed a fault, and it has been shut down.
This is a switchmode power supply problem. The protection circuitry inside the SMPSU, has sensed a severe potential problem, and is attempting the shutting of the set, down to avoid a fire, explosion, or both.
This set had developed a problem, that is so severe that the set must be shut down, (This set should be removed from the Power),
What is happening is the internal "Fault" that is causing the Protection Circuitry , to detect the problem and attempt to shut down the set, keeps restarting the set, because as soon as it shuts down, the "Faulty" component(s) cool down?, and the "Fault" ostensibly "Clears" so the PSU starts up again, only for the component(s) to heat up, whatever, again and fail, so it shuts down, and if left unattended, this would continue on until the part eventually failed. As related this is called a "Hic-upping Power Supply". Any fault that involves the power supply is usually quite serious, and needs a professional, usually, unless one is familiar with servicing current day, televisions.
And in my professional recommendation, you should get a "Quote" for repair, from, an, Approved Service Center. Now, this point is very important for a good result, Always contact, their "Local" or a, "Head Office" Philips in your case. Ask them, for a referral to an authorised servicing center, where you ask for a "Quote". Now, when you get the information you want, then you can decide as to repair of replacement.
The reason we want an approved agent, is that way, all the engineers are trained on their own brand sets, they have seen almost all faults, and will get the job done quicker, and for less cost, and usually have parts on hand, also sometimes, there has been a service bulletin in issued and the repair may be subsided or even free. There are many, many, many reasons that display this symptom, one must work through the troubleshooting steps to isolate and identify, the Cause and repair that and any damage done.

OK well what has happened i suspect, is that your set has been "Spiked" from a power disturbance, and this has damaged either the PSU, or an internal high voltage component, or both, and now, the Protection Circuitry in the SMPS unit, is "Sensing" a potential "Catastrophic fault", that may cause a fire an explosion or both, and accordingly the set MUST be shut down, so the protection circuitry does exactly that.
Your best bet, is to contact a local or head office of the TV's manufacturer, and ask them for a referral to an authorised servicing center. When contact is made with them, ask for a "Quote" for the repair, before allowing any repair work to be undertaken. This then at least will give you an idea as to costings and you can then make an informed decision as to repair or replace, as often these days i find in my shop anyway, many repairs can be very expensive, and often it would be better putting any monies that would have been spent on repair towards a NEW unit with a warranty.

Sound no pic. after on

Your TVs CRT socket is faulty. CRT socket is one that connect the base of the picture tube, and can be located on the base card of the tv. It is soldered directly to base card and can be replaced. Unplug the base card from the picture tube neck [Caution: never damage the neck of the picture tube. Only slight pressure should be applied], desolder it out and replace it with a similar type.

I own a Norcent TV model LT-1931. I am a DirectTV

Out of range = the tv receives a signal with a resolution higher than it can display. Connect your DirectTV to another tv and make sure that the signal is one supported by your tv (any SD format will do). If it is then connect your tv to a pc and test the supported resolutions - if none work or the image is bad then the storm has fried its image processor - a repairman should take a look at it.
