Planar PX2710MW Monitor - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

The Planar PX2210MW is notorious for bad electrolytic capacitors. Specifically capacitor C804 on the power supply board. . This is a 1000uF 25volt capacitor. That capacitor was usually made by Hermei and it was purple. Normally, the top of a capacitor will be flat. When it fails, it will be curved upward and there may be some brown material leaking out. If the monitor still will not work after replacing C804, the problem could be Q805 or Q806. These are located on the under side of the board. They are small black surface mounted chips. There are 8 pins on these chips. I have seen both AO4620 and APM4548A part numbers used. These chips contain a pair of MOSFET transistors. One transistor is n-channel and the other is p-channel. Look for a short in one of the transistors. I have repaired several of these monitors. C804 is always bad. How ever, in three cases, Q805 or Q806 was also bad

In case you can't show the 1920X1080 option (or higher resolutions) either the VGA controller can not handle these resolutions (so they are hidden) or the drivers for your VGA controller are missing. Clarify me your desktop brand/model to come back with more details.

I use either VGA or HDMI connectors to connect to an external monitor. I'm not sure what you're asking on the "power cord". Are you asking about the charging "brick" and such? Or?

You will need to go to advanced settings under resolution options and set the display to 60hz refresh rate then go back to resolution and set your native, the problem is its probably trying to default to 75hz and is causing an issue

ivettecorral, "Switch-mode-power-supply" is in partial shutdown mode. The monitor needs you or tech to fix it. Try connecting another "known-good" monitor to your computer.
If it does not work, it's the video-card on your computer that is the problem.

Try connecting the monitor to the VGA-port on a laptop, or to some other desktop. If it does not work, and if it's under warranty, exercise the warranty. Otherwise, it's dead, and you need to buy a replacement, and responsibly recycle the dead monitor.

it is about eeprom mistake

while booting pc keep pressing F8 key, than select VGA mode in menu shown

Does it go blank before you signon, or when you sign on? If before boot to SAFE MODE and check the video display settings.. you man have settings your monitor can't understand.
If that doesn't work and you get to input your signon and then it goes blank you most likly have a virus or malware.
Log into safe mode, and use SYSTEM RESTORE to a time before you stated having the problem.
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - System Restore

It could even be that it's not plugged in to the computer, or that it's time to buy a new one.
