Hi Szusza, The new RAM module you purchased may be faulty, it is definitely possible that either due to a fault of the new RAM or on the slot you are trying to install it to cause the computer to not fully boot. Have you tried to boot the computer with the new module only? If not please try this: Replace the original RAM module with the new one (make sure you insert the new RAM in the same slot you took the old one out) If the PC boots you know the new RAM is fine. If this does not work I would suggest getting your new RAM tested. If it does work, put the original RAM back in the computer (in a new slot) if it does not boot after that then, there is possibly a problem with the RAM slot on the motherboard.

The processor is a Socket 775 processor and there are a lot of CPU's available and a good one is the Celeron E3400 it is a dual core running at 2.6 Ghz. it isn't too far removed from the original but will give you a noticeable improvement in performance. There are better available but I can't find any motherboard details for it.

This is about user password and there is no easy fix..but the procedure to get rid of it is not that complicated..Practically you have to reinstall the operation system or use the recovery partition to reinstall the OS ..and this will remove the password..reinstalling in either way will erase the C drive partition ..and if you have important data on this partition it is best to try to make a installation of the OS using the repair feature during and keep your data . or if you can not manage , just remove hard disk ..and add it to another computer running same OS..and browse for the folders in side and save them ..and reinstall after that ..you will need either the recovery partition or recovery disk or boot-able disk with the OS or a boot-able usb tool with the OS ..and the drivers for the motherboard and devices..

the green light is from the power supply .and only indicates the presence of power...if it does not start you must check the reasons ..look first for cables being unplugged from the motherboard or so .. If nothing is being displayed on the front led it means it has no power for some reasons..and it is actually a good news..If the led is amber in color ..than it is something wrong with the board...I think in your case it may be just the front panel buttons cord being unplugged from the main board..if you have done something insiude it ..it maybe the cause..Or it may be the main power supply to blame ...even if it indicates it has power ..something may be wrong with it ..and not transforming the current like it should..I repeat... the lack of any sign of power on the main board is a good news for now ..if you eliminate all other causes related with the power supply and the front panel and other cable that powers the board...than you have to see if it is not the main board to blame ...I suggest to strip it down to the minimum ..(leave just some ram memory and the cpu on it ..and try to boot without any cards or hard disk or other..and see if you get anything on screen with the on board graphic..if you manage to start it ..and than build your way back ..one by one ..and diagnose them ..Also check the cmos jumpers..and the battery ones in special ..If for some reasons they are removed..it will play dead..for the lack of power..Just download the main manual from the hp ..and in there you have the board ..and follow the setting for the jumpers..(or better ..look for the manual for the mother board by name ..what you need is teh maps for all teh plugs ..front panel ... cards..etc..this way if you strip it you can follow the indications to build it back )

Steps:------
1.Plug in a different USB device in that USB port and check if it is working or not. If the 2nd device is working then the 1st USB device has gone bad. If none is working then try the steps mentioned below.
2.Unplug the powercable from the laptop and also unplug the battery. Press and hold the power button for 30-40 secs and then plug in the power cable and the battery and check.
3.click on START->right click on COMPUTER->click on MANAGE->click on DEVICE MANAGER->click on the symbol beside Universal Serial Bus Controller and uninstall all the USB ROOT HUB's and then restart the computer.
4.Run System Recovery from the Recovery Partion or Using the Recovery Disk.

Still if it remains then it is surely a hardware issue

I think you have a broken USB keyboard or USB port. Simply plugging in the keyboard should be enough to make it work. First try the keyboard in a different USB port. Test the caps lock to see if the LED goes on and off. Also try a different keyboard and also test it in a different computer.
