ATX cooler master 500 no output power
You need a new power supply. They go out like alternators go out on a car. Your may have had seen it full life.Their life becomes short if you do not use a U.nlimited P.ower S.upply.
Power supplies are the first line of defense if you do not use a surge protector or a UPS. If you plug PC direct to an outlet you're asking to buy a new power supply. You have to wait for that big lightning storm to roll through, or someone might steal your copper ground from your house, and you turn on the fan the wrong way. Blow a light bulb or two, and fry your power supply.
PC on or off, that 500 power supply cannot handle spikes of electricity coming from your outlet. The purpose of a UPS is to smooth out the flow of electricity so your power supply is not threatened with a big spike of electricity.
Solution: Well, with a small budget in mind, take the old one out. Take it to the store and buy a new one. Consult the store tech to make sure your protecting your PC from electric spikes. Yes, you have to remove the power connections. Take pictures if you can, but essentially before you do any of this go to the mother board's manufacture website and print the mother board's guide book. It will explain the type of power supply you need and how to connect it all together. Oh, last but least. Always ground your PC before you do any work. You may need a can of air for this. PC cleaning air and grounding mats can be purchased from the local PC store. Good Luck!
