But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date. But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing. Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c Windows Vista: DirectX 10). http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Which-version-of-DirectX-is-on-your-computer If you still have no webcam installed Run the "Add a device"application, accessed by clicking on the "Start" button, opening the "Control Panel," and then double-clicking on "Add a device." The "Add a device" window will open and Windows will search for devices connected to your system but not installed. Click on the webcam name that shows in the search box and then click "Next." Choose whether you want Windows to search for the webcam device driver using Windows Update over the Internet, or if you'd prefer to have the device manager search for the driver using a disc supplied by your laptop manufacturer. Most drivers can be found on the system recovery disc included with your laptop, if you choose to add the driver from the provided disc. Place a check in the box next to your choice and then click "Next" to continue. Wait while Windows searches from the driver using Windows Update, if this was your choice. An active Internet connection is required for Windows to successfully do this. Allow the computer to install the driver and then reboot the system for the webcam to become recognized by the system. Otherwise, you can use the system recovery disc or a driver downloaded directly from your laptop manufacturer to install the driver without using the Windows Update search feature. Open the CD/DVD-ROM drive and insert the system recovery disc, or place the driver downloaded from the manufacturer in an easily accessed file directory on your PC, such as on the desktop, or in your "My Documents" folder. Choose the option "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" in the "Add a device" application, and press "Next" to begin searching for your webcam driver. The hardware wizard will search the system recovery disc and install the driver automatically. Press "Finish" to close the wizard and then reboot the computer to allow recognition of the webcam. Choose the option "Install the software manually" in order to browse to the driver location where you saved the driver and install it from there. Use the opened file manager and locate the driver. Click the "Next" button to install the driver, then reboot the computer to add webcam functionality. Webcams come in a wide array of styles and designs, from the very simple to the elite, but they all have one thing in common: They can be adjusted to match your mood at the moment and creative desires. Open your web cam in a chat program, such as Skype. Look for a link called "Preferences," where you will find webcam options you can adjust. Choose the "Camera Settings" option and another window will open, labeled "Properties." There are more options here that can be adjusted. Change a setting, such as brightness, by clicking on the slider mechanism with your pointer and dragging it. These mechanisms are usually pretty sensitive, so be cautious when moving the settings. Make sure that the image on your webcam is clear and in focus.

Plugged it in, not working!

Hello!
The situation is a bit confusing as I do not have any details, but let's try solve it together.
Variable webcam models require variable system values and editions.

Please read and follow these steps:

A. First uninstall your camera: Start>Control Panel>Uninstall a Program> find your webcam in the list, click on it and click Uninstall/Change>Confirm/Allow if prompted.Restart your computer.

B. Your webcam's requirements are following:

  • MacOS X 10.4.11 and 10.6.x for iChat and Skype
  • Windows XP(SP2) and Windows Vista for Windows Live Messenger, Skype and Yahoo! Messenger
  • Any desktop or notebook computers with a USB2.0 port available

  • I wish you told me what Operation System you use, as in that case it would be much easier to provide you a good solution.
    • To see which Operating Program you use click on Start, right click Computer and click Properties and you will enter System where all the information about your Operating System s listed. The first line in the first paragraph is the name of your Operating System.

    1. If running Mac:

As you see in the requirements for installing your webcam you need MacOS X 10.4.11 or more (10.6.x for iChat and Skype), so if you are running less then you need to update.
Tips on how to update your Mac you can find here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338

    2. If running XP:

Please, make sure your XP is up to date by checking Windows Update (Start>type Windows Update and click enter>click on Check for Updates in the left pane and wait until Windows Update download and install Available updates. You can also check on www.microsoft.com for latest XP updates.
Note that for now, XP latest update is Service Pack 3: if your Operating System is up to date it should be listed when you open System as I provided above, but still run Windows update just to make sure.

    3. If running Vista:

Please make sure your Vista is up to date and running Service Pack 2. The info you get in System as I provided above in bold.
If you do not find Service Pack 2 in your System list (Service Pack 1 or none instead), then please run Windows Update (described in 2.). If you do not get Service Pack 2 automatically, then please visit www.microsoft.com click on Downloads, click on Vista and then double click on Service Pack 2.
Download it and install, and then restart your computer.
Check for updates using Windows Update, install any new updates available and restart your computer.

Now about the USB2 requirement, you need to see your computer specifications as I do not know which computer you use (manufacturer, model).

    C. Install your camera:
Insert the camera drive CD and if the installation does not start automatically, please do the following: double click on Computer on your desktop>double click on CD/DVD>double click on Driver>Allow/Continue if prompted. If the program prompts you to plug the camera, then you do so and continue installation.
Restart your computer after the installation is done.

    D. Update camera driver:
    Click Start>right click Computer>click Manage>Device Manager.
Find your camera in the list, right click on it and click Update. Plug the camera if prompted and continue.
Restart your computer. Now the device should be working.

    Regards!

My Macally IceCam2 won't turn on. The green light

Once you have properly install the software drivers for
camera, DO NOT UNPLUG it from the USB port unless
you have powered down your laptop computer or
Desktop Computer as it will cause the Camera drivers
    to become corrupt.
Like wise plug the camera into the
USB port before powering up your laptop or the
desktop computer so it will recognize the camera and
    drivers that are installed.

Do this to get the camera working again.
Follow the instructions below and it will work.

Disconnect the Camera from the USB port and reinstall the CD or
    Downloaded software program.

When the program asks you to connect the camera to the USB port,
do so and it should work.

Then to use it on the Web, do this.
Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used

Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video
    picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and
Family will now be able to see and hear you.

    http://www.soft32.com/download_30.HTML

    set it up as follows:

My macally keyboard doesn't stay on even when fully charged

There are a few potential reasons why your Macally keyboard is not staying on even when fully charged:
    1. Battery issues: The battery in the keyboard may be faulty or malfunctioning. It's possible that the battery is not holding a charge or is not working properly.
    2. Power management settings: Check your keyboard's power management settings and make sure that it is set to stay on when fully charged. Some keyboards have a sleep mode that turns off the keyboard when not in use to conserve power.
    3. Connectivity issues: Make sure that the keyboard is properly connected to your computer. Also check if the keyboard works with other devices.
    4. Firmware update: Make sure you have the latest firmware update for your keyboard. Sometimes an update can fix any bugs that cause the keyboard to turn off when it's fully charged.
    5. Damaged charging port: The charging port of the keyboard may be damaged and not able to charge the battery.
It's recommended to contact the manufacturer's customer support team, they will be able to assist you in diagnosing the problem and provide a solution. If the keyboard is still under warranty, you may be able to get it repaired or replaced for free.

Connecting a USB keyboard to my iMac

Adding the keyboard is one thing but without the correct driver, your pc will not be able to recognise it or make it usable. Check in your device list to see if it shows up and whether it is functioning. If not, you need to download the correct driver from the keyboard manufacturer.

It sounds as if it is dead and you may have to purchase another, (obviously check batteries connections first) find out if there is still warranty left as i'm not sure if it will be classed as a consumable.
