Hello - Regarding any coffee maker - some of the water in the reservoir is turned into steam during the brewing process resulting in a smaller volume of brewed coffee. As for the Clean notice, it may just mean that the coffee filter basket needs to be cleaned. We wash ours every time after we brew coffee. Coffee residue builds up in the filter basket during use. I was able to fix this:1. Remove top cover2. Remove grate, one screw3. Dump water4. Clean water sensor probe (silver colour, bullet shape, approx 1/4" long), use a small flat screw driver with paper towel to remove any build up.5. Plug in and test until it works.if you get it to work again, that would be a good time to run the vinegar solution through.

Push in on silver button on top if that don't work take a knife and pop it open.

Easy way is to get online or go down to your favorite store and buy a new coffee maker.

Hello, Larry - Since your coffee maker is new, and most likely covered under warranty, contact the seller and arrange to return the coffee maker for a replacement which works properly. You will probably have to provide a copy of the sales receipt to verify the date of sale. If you purchased your coffee maker through a bricks and mortar store, I suggest you return it to a nearby branch of that store so you do not have to pay the cost of return shipping. Best wishes.
