Setting timer on window unit to turn on and off

Hi Jessica Yacopino - Generally speaking, Frigidaire air conditioners timer option typically have the same procedure. The unit must be in the ON position for the timer delay stop option. For delay start, the unit must be in the OFF position. First, press time button. Then to adjust timer setting, tap or hold the UP arrow or the DOWN arrow to change delay timer at .5 hour increments, up to 10 hours, then by 1 hour increments up to 24 hours. The control will count down the time remaining until start (8, 7.5, 7, etc.). The Delay Start mode automatically selects cooling with maximum Fan Speed. The temperature maintained will be the same as previously set. To change the set temperature, press "COOL" then Up or Down arrows until the desired temperature is indicated on the display. After 5 seconds, the control will automatically change the display back to the hours remaining until the unit will start/stop. PRESSING the unit On/Off button at any time will cancel the Delay Start/Stop function. The Delay Start/Stop Feature will work until the unit either starts or stops. Once that happens the above steps have to be repeated again.

How too separate from cabinet?

Hi Friend, I am happy to help you! I see that your question is listedunder Frigidaire air conditioner and that you are looking for information on how to separate your air conditioner from its cabinet. May I have your model number please? The serial tag, which lists your model number, is typically located behind the front grill by the air outlet or on the inside of the cabinet. Other possible locations of the tag on room air conditioners are on the front edge of the chassis base or behind the dial plate of the control panel. If you have a split air conditioner, try checking on either the front or outer appliance on the right side of the cabinet. Hopethis helps and I look forward to your response. Thank you! - Z

How do you clean the coils?

Good Morning Friend, I understand you want o know how to remove the coils to clean them on your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# FAS257S2A. You will not be removing the coils. If you will please start by cleaning the filter like so: • Tilt the panel out by grasping the panel from both sides, just below the controls and the air directional louvers, and gently pull to release. Pivot the panel on its hinge's and remove the filter. • Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is thoroughly dry before replacing. • Or, instead of washing you may vacuum the filter clean. While you are cleaning the filter, the coils will be located behind the filter area, you can clean them with a vacuum extension. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful. -Best Regards- WP

Needs to recharge Frigidaire air-conditioner model-no FAS257R2A

Hello, most window units will not have ports to attach gauges and charge in Refrigerant. In order to do that you must add a piercing valve to the low side of the system. The pressure listed on the nameplate is just the test pressure of the unit, not the actuall pressure that the unit will operate at. The actuall pressure is dependent on the refrigerant used, outdoor and indoor temps.

We have a smell of

There is a weep hole underneith the casing of the unit that has a rubber plug inside it. You press the rubber plug with your finger and hold it in and the water will drain around your finger. If you are outside facing the unit the weep hole is usually on the right side and about four to five inches from the front.

The smell you are talking about is probably coming from the standing water that has come out of the air conditioner and is sitting inside the casing. After you drain as much water out of that casing as possible, go to your local hardware store and purchase a can of air conditioner cleaner. They sell aerosole cans of foaming cleaner that disolves with the condensation of the unit. It deodorized and cleans the dirt and grease on the coils too. Buy a fin comb or appliance comb and use it to remove the hair, lint and debris that collects behind the filter in the vents. That is what the fin comb or appliance comb is for. That should solve your problem.

I'm trying to locate the filter # so I can

Unless the filter is totally destroyed , it is a washable reusable filter. Or if it's not extremely dirty, you can vacuum it to clean it.

If it's extremely dirty was it in warm water and mild dish washing liquid. Rinse thoroughly, shake any access water off and allow to completely dry, before replacing it. Never operate the unit without the air filter in place.

Always turn the unit OFF & Unplug it, before removing the filter.

If the filter is completely destroyed, go to the following link to locate a Frigidaire Parts Distributor near you. http://www.frigidaire.com/partsdistributorlocator

I hope the above information helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

I have mold growing inside where the fan is.

The outer chassis needs to be removed and then gain access to the scroll fan. Once accessable use a mold and mildew remover on everything EXCEPT the evaporator coils. Many mold and mildew removers are very corrosive to evaporators. A well used scotch brite pad works well on any styro-foam and metal. A pot scrubber brush also does a good job on cleaning the scroll fan. Once you finish cleaning use a fresh water squirt bottle to rinse off the mold and mildew cleaner residue as best you can. Place rags in the bottom and rinse. Wring out the rags and rinse again. I personally use Mr. Muscle Mold and Mildew Remover but it is really hard on your hands. Disposable Latex gloves are a must. You will not get rid all of the discoloration off of styrofoam but you will get rid of the smell and the majority of the problem. This is a task a homeowner can do.... just be careful when gain access to the scroll fan.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I checked to see if there was an external venting function for your unit and there was not so we can eliminate drafted external air as the source. What you will need to do is check the outer chassis to see if the foam is torn off that seals the unit off from external air. You will see a foam strip in the very top of the chassis if you slide the internal unit out. Get some single sided weather stripping and seal off the inner chassis by applying it to the the outer chassis. The from should make contact with the evaporator shroud area only ALL the way around the unit. It will be trickey to get it on properly and then slide the unit back into place but this is what you need to do in the inside of the outer chassis. Now.... on the outside of the outer chassis it must also be sealed. This is just a stretched foam strip all the way areund the outside of the outer chassis. DO NOT use adhesives. It is a stretch and stuff in place fit only. A putty knife works great for installing the outer foam as you stretch it out. If you have any gaps make sure that the gaps are not in the coreners and use another piece of foam to fill any side gaps if the foam pulls apart.

This should resolve the bugs with fan only issue.

Kelly

While running in a screw

You say the unit is 220 volt, but the plug you installed has a white wire which is normally on a 120 volt outlet. A 220 volt outlet would have 2 black wires and ground. If you do have 220 there, and the reset does no good, I've seen those resets(they are basically built in GFI) blow out and had to bypass/put different chord on. there are fuses on the control board but I would check that last

How do I change temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit on Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator, model EPTWFU01?

EPTWFU01 is the water filter part number. It isn't the model number of the refrigerator. Please check the model number. Often the model number is on the back of the refrigerator. Not all models support changing the temperature units. If your refrigerator has a button labeled C/F. Try pressing that to toggle back to Fahrenheit. On another model, FG4H2272UF, press and hold the + and - keypads on the refrigerator side of the control panel for 5+ seconds. One Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator is the GLHS36EJSB. The support page is https://support.frigidaire.com/Owner-Center/Product-Support/GLHS36EJSB . The current link to the manual for this model is https://na2.electroluxmedia.com/Original/Electrolux/Electrolux%20Assets/Document/Complete%20Owners%20Guide/English/241856000en.pdf . This model doesn't allow the units to be changed. The documentation for FG4H2272UF is available here: https://support.frigidaire.com/Owner-Center/Product-Support/FG4H2272UF . See the page 15 of the manual, https://na2.electroluxmedia.com/Original/Electrolux/Electrolux%20Assets/Document/Complete%20Owners%20Guide/English/A10883135en.pdf , for the information above. I hope this helps. Please add a comment with your refrigerator's actual model number for specific directions for toggling between degrees C and degrees F. Cindy Wells

Window ac/heater freezes up when using the heater?

This is likely due to a lack of airflow. Make sure that the air filter is clean and that there are no obstructions blocking the air intake or exhaust vents. If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to have a technician come out and inspect the unit for any other potential issues.
