Yamaha 5560 no sound from front left and right
hi,
just check by fault switched of the frond speakers. power on the receiver play some thing listen sound is coming from the other speaker except frond. press the speaker A button in frond of the receiver. listen is it become on. if not got to the menu of ur receiver surf for speaker configuration . find out the whether the frond speaker is off. if it off turn it on.

Sounds like the unit is set to shutdown if it detects a short in the amplifier. The problem can be within the supply but it is most likely in the amp section of the unit. Transistors will go out over time and need to be replaced. Find a local repair shop and have them estimate the repair for you. the cost on something like this can be in the 70.00 range depending on shop rates in your area and the extent of the problem.

Have you checked the MUTE function?
NEVER turn the volume up more than half-way for any sound problem. Otherwise, if you suddenly find the switch that's out of position you could blow your speakers.

sounds like you have the polairity reversed on the speakers
and yes it does make a difference
check polairity also make sure unit is well ventelated
you wouldnt use your compouter if it was inside a card board box
so make sure the reciever can breath also
recievers get too hot and they start blowing chips off the board
Yamaha HTR-5560 6.1 no video output
It appears that the composite video in/out is not working. I didn't have a TV with an S-video to test with. Since there were only two video devices for input, I routed their composite video output to an a/b switch. Works great, and sounds great.......

I own this unit also and have found that it is very sensitive to speaker wire shorts. Please recheck all speaker connections to make sure you have no "stray wires" touching someplace to make a short.
Dvd playback
Did you use Midi files when creating the Sound Track? If so your encoder may not have had the software to translate the Midi to the Mpeg2 sound track. Will it play back on other devices or just the Yamaha?
