we have a viewsat ultra 2000 on feb 29 08 we turned the tv off and left the unit on when we turned the tv back on everything froze and the unit does not respond we tried the switch on the back it works for a moment then completly freezes any help is appreciated this machine is approx 4 mths old - from [email protected]

You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed.

Generally, you only need one 'full' set of connections. If you are using s-video, you'll still need audio red and white or fiber...not both. Fiber is better. Where are you going to get your audio from? That's where you'll want to direct your feed. Some people cheat and run the red/white to the TV when they're too lazy to turn on the receiver! Mute it if it annoys you.

First, unplug and replug in the unit to reset everything. Second, check each cable for a short using a multitester. Each speaker cable should show a few ohms of resistance. If either open or a dead short...there's the problem. Not it? Get service.

You may have speaker wires touching each other or a short circuit in the wire. "Check SP Wires" means to check your speaker wires.

I expect there is either a power supply issue or one of the amplifiers has failed causing over current to turn it off as a protection to the power supply.

Yes if it has a suitable speaker connection available and is nominally 8 ohms impedance Speaker and AV.

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.

(francais) hello in my issue the probleme was a little resistor r027 it's in this red zone and very ugly. easy to find. a friend was unsolded the resistor and weld a little wire after wash with isopropanole alcool. the resistor test the tension when we plug usb thing. less the resistor the usb ports don't work. you can buy r027 for 2 euros for 100 pieces.... or 2 euros for 5 10 pieces (funny).

You must repair the amplifier first. Take it to an authorised Yamaha service centre.
