Yamaha HTR-5730 Receiver - Page 4 Questions & Answers
I have a viewsat ultra.
If you are using a switch between the viewsat and the LNB, remove it and connect the receiver again.
If that did not work, remove the cable from the LNB and power up again; if the receiver still unable to power up then you might have a short circuit in the cable itself or water might be entrapped inside the connectors on the LNB/switch connections.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Will not stay on
Your receiver is going into protection mode.
Need to know what type of reciever. In the self diagnostic mode there are code that will tell you why it is cutting off. If it is as you say you, as for the fall, you may just be able to reset it in diagnostic mode and everything will be fine. You can search for the service manual online. It will explain the diagnostics and the protection mode in detail.
Reciever power
It is going into protection mode. If you feel comfortable with directions look for the service manual and get the codes that are causing the protection error then you can find out how to fix it.

My stereo shuts off when the sound jumps quickly
You might try connecting only one speaker at a time and see if you can
locate a bad speaker OR bad output channel that way. If you find
that you connect one speaker and the problem occurs then try another
working speaker and see if it still does it. If it does, then you
have an output problem. Good luck.
