What would be the best automatic pool cleaner for intex 18 x 48 easy set

the vacuum you are using is probably the best for the system you have. if you want a REAL pool vacuum, get a REAL pool. there is a reason that these are considered disposable pools. dont get me wrong, any way to cool off is great and these pools allow people this 'luxury' at a reasonable cost but they are assembled with low end, non standardized equipment that doesnt match with traditional pool equipment.

The piece on the top of the filter keeps coming

On top of the pump unit, is a large wheel-type screw. With the pump on, all the air must be purged from that pump in order for it to work properly. Every time you plug in the pump, you must press the red button on the plug. It's a saftey feature, otherwise you won't have any power.

I have the 18 ft x 48" intex easy set infletable

This should be easy ... a foot of water? I would suggest you are leaking out the bottom. do you have a mask and snorkel? Watch the bottom from a floating position ... you might find the hole ... there are underwater patch kits for this very purpose.

How deep can we dig for oval deep-end pool

This blog has information about sinking an above ground pool. It is normally recommended that you do not sink the pool entirely into the ground becuase of pressure concerns and the risk of collapse. Generally, you leave 1-3 feet of the pool above the ground and install a deck or similar feature to make the pool appear to be in the ground. The type of pool liner that you have (expandable) is best for this practice, but it can be done with overlap or regular beaded liners also.

What is the HP of an Intex 673R filter pump

It is a pump, only motors are measured in Horsepower. I would expect the HP of this above ground combined pump and filter is so low they would be embarrassed to state. It is measured in Gallons Per Hour flow rate. https://www.google.com/search?q=Intex+673R+pump+specs ..
