it has a pressure switch that is a common failure pump waterco portapac Google Search the switch looks like this in most cases and is a gravy fix waterco portapac Google Search now you can bypass it FOR TESTING ONLY ! to see if it is indeed the culprit, it's around a $20 part and nice to have on hand Also check to see if the pump has a restriction, like a plugged impeller, debris might got into the pump and restricted flow, causing a low pressure situation ? I have just backwashed the pool to remove excess water after rain. When I turned the filter back on the popol is continuing to drain water

If the handle is sloppy you might have a broken spring in the valve. If not the gasket that keeps water isolated to the right path inside the valve head is not sealing. Sometimes it can be debris stuck but often it means the gasket or diverter (key assembly) needs replaced. It is easy enough to inspect. Shut the pump off and put the valve handle between any two positions then remove the six screws around the top. It should lift off for inspection. Remember this area is under a lot of pressure when the pump is on so it wont take much to allow it to leak across. If the gasket is in the valve body it will need to be removed completely and a new one glued in its place. If the gasket is part of the key assembly, it may not be replaceable, so the whole key assembly will have to be changed. If this is the case, I suggest you take it into your local pool store and see if they can help change it out. The key is under heavy tension from a spring. I use a 6" bearing puller to help compress the spring. Please let me know if you need anymore info or if this didn't help.

How to replace bearing

Depends on the replacement cost of the motor and what your end bell housings are made of. As a rule it is a better long term solution to replace the motor. Aluminum end bells which have become common in the last few years do not hold new bearings very well. The process to change them is a bit time consuming, considering that you have to disassemble the pump, and then the motor, and then reassemble hoping for favorable results. Some specialty tools are required that are not found in a conventional home repair toolbox.

I have a Waterco ElectroheatXL

Hi domedoc2...

From what it sounds like to me, you have a broken water line/pipe or fitting going to your pool heater, or maybe a fitting leaking.
Even winterising will sometimes not clear all the water from the water lines and cause them to burst over the winter.
You will need to disassemble the box that the heater is in in order to check and repair the broken water line, once that is done it should clear your digital readout warning...
One suggestion that I will make is to intstall a clear plastic (rubber) hose in the water line just before it goes into you water heater, that way if it does freeze up again this will burst instead of the plastic pipes or fittings next time it freezes and will be easy to replace.

Hi. My pump is running

I would be suspicious of the bearings although there could be something with the impeller. My most recent unpleasant noise was a dime that found its way into the pump compartment. The place where you get your pool supplies, can they rebuild or suggest a repair facility? Is there a general motor repair shop in your town (look in the business section of your telephone book)?

http://www.1800pools.com/index/page/search

http://www.aqua-man.com/schematic.asp?kc=S1154 (click on the pump part number for further information.)

It appears your pump has a AO Smith motor. Pretty standard motor. Should be easy to find the bearings for this.

I operate a commercial facility. I cannot have down time. When I have a MOTOR problem, I am more likely to replace the motor, and I have several waiting. I do have a shop that will take a look at the old motor and if appropriate, repair. For my installation, it is generally cheaper to put in the new motor. This may not work for you.

Thanks for your question @ FixYa.com

When waterco sand filter is

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Since you already replaced the gasket you will need to check two others things: First, inspect the groove the new gasket is sitting in as well as the mating surface of the diffuser. Be sure none of the old gasket is still there. Thoroughly clean all surfaces as well to ensure the new gasket is fully seating in the valve. If that does not cure the leak you will need a closer inspection of the mating surfaces to find a crack. Without any pump pressure on the valve it will be tough to find. It will appear as a hair like line but once the pump is on it will open up enough to let water pass. If you find a crack you can try to use a two-part plastic approved epoxy to seal it or else you will need to replace that part.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!
