Scooter just stopped moving .new battery. tryed

Did you replace both batteries at the same time? has the scooter been sitting idle for a while? Are the lights on the controller flashing or steady? If no lights come on at all, you may have blown a fuse. If the lights are flashing, this link may help you to diagnose what the problem may be related to: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble. If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs; contact them for information.
Good luck!

Ihave a strider st4 and

hi, OK first check the charger, is it charging correctly please confirm this if possible by borrowing a charger, check the charging port, it is a loose fitting , do you always get a green light on the charger ?, if not check the connection at the charging port.
if after use say greater than 2 miles , the batteries charge up within a couple of hours, that points to your batteries losing the ability to take a charge, now first check the terminal connections to the batteries, are they clean and tight.
Check the brake mounted on the side of the motor, can you hear a click when powering backwards or forward , it may be advisable to get the wheels off the ground, please take care when doing this.
If the brake has become lazy it may not be releasing 100% , moving the wheels around when slight , (just so yo can hear the click, it may be very faint), power applied will test this, again please take care when doing this test
OK so the batteries are charging up, then sadly 95% sure it your batteries, that need replacing. the other 5% being a faulty controller, dodgy motor, but this is very rare.

Please leave feedback if the suggestions help.
Regards GeWiz.

My meditech mobility scooter will not alway stop

Peter,

It sounds like you have a bad throttle potentiometer or worn/bad brake. You could also have weak batteries. Let me address each of these in turn.
The most likely problem is that the throttle potentiometer spring or the potentiometer is worn out. The pot is not going to a neutral position when you release it. The electrical neutral is in the center of the pot throw, not forward, not reverse. If the spring is deformed, weak or worn the pot will not come back to center. The controller electrically senses that the brakes do not need to be applied after a period of regenerative braking (lag time to slow the motor down before the brakes are applied). The electrical slider inside the potentiometer may be worn from continuous use and not making good electrical contact, thus the electrical signal to the controller is reduced. Using a digital voltmeter you can check for electrical dead spots throughout the typical 5K ohm range in forward and reverse. Center should be 0 ohms with +5K to -5K ohms to common read from the outer terminals.
A bad electromechanical brake which works like a solenoid could be your problem. When the controller sends power to work the brake the solenoid needs to grab the brake disc. There could be too much brake dust or the disc may be worn out or slipping. The solenoid coil may be open or shorted, With a digital voltmeter the resistance should be between 40 to 60 ohms.
With the two preceding solutions comes a disclaimer. If the batteries are old or weak, the electronics and performance including braking will be weak or poor. Make sure you have fully charged batteries that load test good. It takes a good set of batteries to make the motor turn and to make the motor stop.
A good tech will charge less than an hour labor for the above service. I usually replace the throttle potentiometer and speed potentiometer as a pair since they are electrically connected in series.
Hope this helps.

I have a milan mobility scooter, turn the key & it sounds a low

Hi. This sounds difficult. I have had a few scooters move slowly forward or in reverse, but not both. Normally if the speed pot ( wig wag ) is not exactly in the central position, they can do this.
It is possible for a scooter to have your problem, if the speed lever is binding or rubbing on the housing. Normally the lever is returned to the middle by a spring around the speed pot shaft. If this spring is loose or broken, then this could also cause the problem. Sometimes a small spot of oil or grease will help.
To check the speed lever is in the middle, slowly move the lever for forward untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Now release the lever and slowly pull it for reverse untill you hear the brake solenoid release. Make sure that the speed lever moves the same amount for forward as it does for reverse. If not adjust it with the key off.
If you get the machine to drive properly, then change the controller to see if it is OK.
As for the beeping, a lot of machines will go into an error mode if the speed lever is not in the central position when you turn the key on. This is a safety precausion.
Good luck. Neil.

Wigwag Throttle Control Pot FREERIDER loose

The spring that applies tension on the wigwag often breaks. After removing the shroud to gain access to the throttle, back off the two allen screws (2mm) and pull off the throttle handles, remove the nut in order to replace the spring. The cost of the spring is about $4.00 compared to the complete throttle at about $250.00.
