if it drages less or not at all during night that means air fuel mix screw on the carb needs to adjust for proper intake of oxygen in the cumbustion chamber but you have to set it two times on load and no load condition till the engine runs smooth another reason is when the engine is dragging and there is smoke in the exoust that means engine oil is going up in the cylinder head which results in dragging and loss of power for that matter piston rings has to be changed but firstly check the first one

Always troubleshoot with new sparkplug. Remove the oil sending unit connection from the coil. The coil should work without any wires connected. Usually the only connections are oil sending unit that will short to ground when low oil condition and other wire must be kill wire to on/off switch. Use carb cleaner spray directly into the carb with air filter removed and choke off as fuel supply. Just a short spray and another short spray after a couple of pulls. If engine wants to start you will need to keep spraying cleaner for engine to continue to run. If engine wants to run, replace fuel with couple gallons of premium fuel to get it going. Hotter fuel will help if the compression is low. Good luck

Most Generac generators have a lever for the choke that pulls out. So if the generator is being started for the first use or cold you should choke when starting . Let it run for 30-45 sec. then push it in . Once the engine has been run or warm you dont need to choke every time when starting .

This 2099 has disabled my Generac after being fine for 2 yrs???

I had a similar problem and it was because I had OVERFILLED the oil! I drained enough to make sure it was within the crosshatched markings on the dipstick and it started right up.

It sounds like the coil has went bad, replace the coil and you should be good to go

It sounds as though there is an issue with the carburetor. If the unit is "surging" with no load I would recommend thoroughly cleaning the carb. It would also be a good idea to test the fuel pump. Per Generac you need to disconnect the fuel line leading to the carb and pull the starter rope over to see if adequate fuel is flowing. If none of this is the issue try testing the stepper motor on top of the carb. If you unclip the wire and use an OHM meter all wires should test at 150 ohms. to test place on test lead on the blue wire and move the other lead to the remaining four wires. The should all ohm out to roughly 150ohms. if this is not the case you need to replace the stepper motor.... Before you do any of this you should check for fresh fuel, a good spark plug, and proper compression.
