Hi Yes, sorry just saw this comment. Swap out C7, C17 and C18 in the power supply. Also I would check if you are getting 9Volts to the motor control IC's pin 7 coming off of C005 on the Mechanism Board which is under the unit. The hole for the C005 cap was drilled into a very narrow section of the circuit board and has marginal connection at best.. mine stopped working because of this 6 months after I fixed the power supply.

I'am afraid you have done everything possible, the laser pickup assembly will need to be replaced, not cost effective to repair cheaper to replace.

Seems like a manufacturing defect with the way C005 on the Mechanism Control Board was mounted. The positive lead hole on the circuit board for this electrolytic capacitor was drilled into a land that was too narrow for the lead size. The result is no +B to the motor control IC's(LB1641's) on this board. Jumper with a suitable wire from the positive lead on C005 to pin 7 or 8 of the LB1641. This fix obviously assume you know how to take the unit apart (really very simple really if you look at the unit carefully). The board is accessible underneath the entire mechanism.

Try newest firmware. It should work for all Onkyo DVD-players:
