It is a good idea to take the bobbin out and turn the hand wheel. Monitor the turning hook that goes around. See if there is threads or fabric stuck. Make sure the hook isn't cocked. The hook goes around in an indented area called the race.Make sure you put one drop of oil on the race.After this turn the hand wheel and try to notice if there is any changes to the resistance. If not you may need to talk with a professional for repair.
Force it hard in the direction of travel. You can't break it. Told to me and demonstrated by a dry cleaning shop. The remove the needle and run it flat out for 15 seconds. If it happens again, you need it serviced and timed.
If the symbol looks like ] [, then this isn't generally an error message. The machine is in bobbin wind mode. Move the bobbin winder spindle to the left. If the spindle is all the way to the left, then you have a problem with the bobbin winding mechanism below the bobbin winder spindle slot. The sewing machine isn't correctly getting the message of where the spindle is.
