Microwave runs for a few seconds and stops t

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Main control boardIf your microwave runs for a few seconds and stops, the first thing to check is the main control board to ensure that a shortage has not occurred. If the part is defective then it will need to be replaced to prevent continual shut offs. If this is not the issue, the next step would be to check for a faulty touchpad.
  2. Touchpad/Control panelIf the control board is not the issue and your microwave continues to shut off after running for only a few seconds, the next thing to check is your touchpad, which is also known as a control panel. Although uncommon for this issue, symptoms are usually that the display and some buttons are working properly; however, when selected some buttons are not functioning. If this is the case the touchpad will need to be replaced.

The microwave oven comes on

Make sure that the program controller is working if not check power - step down supply, the pads are responding- if not faulty pads- or the door switches, if the switch contact are not good then it will not trigger the processor to switch on the waveguides. If the lights or fan work without any display or action of program being triggered to start then it can be a possible fault on the main board or the processor. Sometimes insect secretion can short the board and display panel and so the processor can work in such an erratic manner. If so clean, solder and reset the board.

If there is no heating please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is faulty, the temperature cut off is faulty or the main capacitor is short. It is also quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron. So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off. Check the wave guide covers, if food had depositedthen it must be checked or replaced.

See link: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/microwave/a/5/1146/how-to-replace-a-microwave-guide-cover.html

Now keeping clear of the microwave, switch on, use a cup of water inside to test. If you notice any sparks shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.If there is heating without any issues, you can use the microwave safely

Thank You for using FIXYA.

UNIT CAUGHT FIRE... OUT OF

First of all, I hope there was no injury or property damage!

Second, be sure to unplug the oven until it is repaired or replaced.

Your owner's manual will give you details of your warranty.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download Whirlpool owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

If there was property damage or injury, you would be entitled to compensation and should preserve the microwave "as-is" for evidence.

Then I would advise you not to discuss the situation with anyone other than a consultant or legal representative.

In addition to repairing microwaves and their controllers, I provide expert technical witness and consulting services for attorneys in cases like this, and I would be happy to work with your attorneys to analyze this or give a deposition, etc., if you decide to assert your rights to compensation. Let me know if I can help you further.

Typically they do not charge you unless you receive a settlement or award.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Doesn't heat anything up any more. Everything else

If it was just a simple matter of popping in a replacement part, you could probably do it yourself. The trouble is that you need to figure out what part is bad, or what other problem is causing the oven not to work. (It's not always bad parts; sometimes it's a connection that's come loose or an interlock switch that's out of adjustment). That means working on the oven with power on and the cover removed, which exposes lethal voltages. It also means being able to follow the circuit diagram and knowing how to measure voltages and test components. Unless you have the tools and skills to do this, you should pay a professional to check the oven and give you an estimate for the repair. This will keep you safe, and will ensure that repairs are done correctly to avoid possible microwave leakage or other improper operation.

Everything works but no heat

There are three parts that will cause this, the magnetron "common problem" the high voltage capacitor and diode. The above items work together to heat the food, if the magnetron is the culprit it is cheaper to replace it with a new microwave oven.

Does not heat

There is a slo-blow 20 amp fuse inside of the ac power panel. You will have to remove the front and locate the fuse inside. This fuse suplies the power to the Traveling Wave Tube that spplies the microwave energy.

Not heating

It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.

YOUR SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT

This is a job for a professional but if you are safety clued up, here's instruction.
Make sure the !!!!any capacitors are discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 or moving coil meter on high resistance range for short circuit, (DVM's won't show the fault!), the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

It is not heating, everything else is working

If the microwave makes a humming sound while running, then the diode is bad and needs to be replaced. If it sounds almost normal, but just not heating, then the magnetron is bad and needs to be replaced.
