So if you bought a Curtis Home Theater System Model DVD6091 and you can only hear the 2 front speakers working? Insert another DVD that's labeled 5.1 Dolby Surround and choose that 5.1 Dolby option in the menu before calling their tech support

Yes. I believe this one accepts a coax cord.

Sounds like optical and HDMI is getting confused along the way.
You need to have a look at the manuals and ensure that the connections are correct and are selected correctly.

Sorry, but it just isn't possible. The Curtis system does not take an input that is compatible with the XBOX.

Speaking direct to the manufacturer it turns out that the intended use for the optical socket is to allow connection to other video devices and not for the connection of other audio signals. In short, you cannot use the optical socket to allow 5.1 surround sound from any other device as it is OUTPUT only.

Seems crazy I know but that's what the manufacturer told me.

Remove the unit and open it up to remove disk and examine the tray drive.

What have you tried to get it to work? Have you powered the unit off and on? Have you tried unplugging the unit for a few minutes and starting it again?

I have the same problem with 2 of them (my kids are well annoyed). They WERE working fine!
