Panasonic SCBT230 Theater System - Page 2 Questions & Answers
Having just setup a SC-BT230
Sometimes these buttons only work for certain formats eg. a cd may not play with more than the front 2 speakers.
Also, when you press these buttons are you viewing the home cinema on your tv? It may require you to press the sound/surround button, navigate a menu to select the setting then press OK (this is how my Philips unit works)
Hope this helps.

What audio cable is needed
Have you referred to the manuals?
It all depends on which way you intend audio to GO.
Consider this: Is the TV really a SOURCE of audio or does the program audio come from elsewhere, like a Cable Box with REAL digital audio capabilities? THAT is where you want the SABT230 to get the TV-related audio, on an optical cable.
Unless your TV has a speaker complement comparable to the SABT230, the TV only NEEDS video and maybe basic audio (from the Cable Box?) for those times you just want to have the TV on for casual watching, like news. AV OUT HDMI can carry video and (unnecessary) high-end audio to the TV from the SABT230, while standard RCA stereo cables can carry the 'normal' audio from the Cable Box to the TV. In any serious viewing you would probbaly mute the TV speakers and use the SABT230 for listening.

Hi,
Easy setup is an option when unit turns On unit first time out of box. If you want to perform easy setup again then need to perform reset (Restore Default Settings) function to get easy setup menu.
Press Start button on remote and select Other Functions, press OK, then select Setup menu, press OK then select Others option and press OK then select Restore Default Settings and press OK
Now you will get easy setup menu again.
Hope these info will help you.
Thanks.

Cant get sound on tv
Possible what you meant was no sound from TV If so the LINE output from the TV must be cross checked to see if there is audio signals. If not the TV preamp output is faulty and must be checked., If there is signal from the TV then the input of the Audio system is faulty , can be the preamp selector input.

The unit turns on but
First thing is to unhook all speakers that are connected to the unit..there may be a bad one and it may be shutting down to protect it. If this dosen't work, then you will probably need to have the unit serviced by qualified service center

I can't play any sound from the tv (a Philips
Make sure that you are connected to 'outputs' on the TV.
Make sure that you set the sound system to the correct input that corresponds with your cable.
Run a check on the sound system to make sure that the speakers are working and configured correctly using the test-tone facility.
