This is the problem with all universal remotes--on combo units especially.You are better to of course look for an original replacement remote which will have all the features and none of these issues.

The truth is there is no way to set the date beyond 2010 on some older TVs and videos. The manufacturers didn't expect some older devices to last - and still be in use - beyond 2010. The internal firmware/software was only programmed with a calendar up until 31 December, 2010.

The best way to get around this is to set the year to 2005.

2005 has exactly the same dates and days as 2011, e.g. March 13th falls on a Sunday in both 2005 and 2011. Neither are leap years. If you set the year to 2005, you will still be able to use the timer functions, etc. You can still program it to start at 8.00pm on Sunday 13th March and stop at 9.00pm on Sunday 13th March. The year is actually irrelevant.

In addition, you will be able to continue using it for another 3 years without needing to reset the year again as 2006 has the same days/dates as 2012 and 2007 has the same days/dates at 2013. You will need to change it again in 2008 (i.e. 2014) as 2008 was a leap-year and 2014 isn't.

I have made this change for several of my own customers and all have been able to continue using their equipement sucessfully without the "incorrect" year causing any problem.

If you are using a cable box for changing channels, then the cable box has a problem. if not then you could have a bad tuner, a processor is locked up, and you need to unplug the cable box and the TV from the wall for 40Min., and they will reset back to normal.

That is the caption causing the black box, get the remote press menu and scroll down until you hit caption, use the right arrow and press it until you see off "1,2,3, and off," when the cursor is over the off press enter. That should restore your picture.

The data signal coming from the tuner (the upright case in which the cable plugs in) to the image decoder (the big circuit on the mainboard) has a breaking connection - a soldering fails when heated. You must open the tv and, using a magnifying glass, check every single soldering and redo all that look dubious. You will need a fine soldering iron and a steady hand for that.

Direct Code Entry

1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.

Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.

In the menu on the TV there will be a section for channels. There you can add or delete existing channels. Or you can just push the 7 and 3 button ion the remote then hit enter and it should go right to the Channel.

Ok, this can indeed happen, in this model set, the tuner has Three, differing sections, what has happened is most likely the Tuning Voltage is faulty, as this is what causes this to happen.
This used to be a common fault, a few, many, years back, but as these older sets age and go faulty, they usually aren't repaired.
The Tuner is controlled by a Voltage Ramp, and Level. What happens is the Voltage that's being supplied has become faulty, and needs to be repaired.
When this happens it really is, the thin end of the wedge so to speak, and usually heralds a continuation of parts going faulty, as they all reach their end of life time. 10 - 15 years is a usual component's life, your set is over 17 years old. so i would tend to expect many more failures from now on,and indeed would question as to the practicality of repair. I would think, that any monies that would have been spent on repair would be put to better use being put towards a purchase of a new(er) unit.

you will need to make sure the ps3 is set to rca or hdmi config and it can only be done on a television that it has been set on so if your getting no picture on the rca cables you will want to hook it up via hdmi after you have established which it is set to you can change the setup and the connection

There is a switch on the back of the vcr. Channel 4 or channel 3. Then just turn your television channel to that same channel you have set on the back of the vcr.
If you are using coaxil cable from cable then you should be able to turn vcr on to channel 3 or 4 to view it.
If you are using RCA cables from a cable box to vcr, then vcr should be on the Input or AV channel.

I also have this VCR I use the radio shack hdtv universal remote model 15-135 it will also control many other devices, the only thing I don't like about this remote is that the type on the buttons is very small and hard to read, pro's it will control almost any device.

I am sorry but I don't think you can do that with a VCR.

to buy a universal remote control, but answer to dealer first if is it suported for you tv.

Set it for the year 1999.Its the same calender as 2010. For 2011 set it for 1994.
