Where can I get a service manual?

If you search Google there are a couple of sites offering it. But it might also be similar to the 640 version, which there is a free PDF of it, that is much easy to access than the other sites offering the 650. Plus some of these (650) sites are old so the links to the file might be absent, or have virus infections.

Just set up my brand new cambridge audio azur 650a

Just make certain that the connections are all good with no wires touching. If it still doesn't perform after that return it to where you bought it and get a new replacement or your money back.

Amp keeps cuting out when you increase vol

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

The amp won't power up. The cord is is, the power

Hi... If all the speakers are connected properly then I would say, there is a failure in either the power supply filtering caps or one output has failed and it's going into Protect mode to keep from frying the speakers
It will require service at that point.

Caimbridge audio amp right channel always dies

Stereo amps are two mono amps put together. So if you have a bad channel then you also have a good channel to compare it with. I suspect you have a faulty transistor. You can test it by proding the channels with a pen or your finger - touching plastic only parts. The two channels should buzz. If buzzs in the left then if you touch it in the right it should do the same. An alteration or change in the sound in the right and you have found the faulty part. It's nothing to do with the power supply section so keep away from that!

DC error Cambridge audio amplifier

For model AZUR 740A with random DC-error on display after power on. Only several resets will be a solution, but not for long !! Behind the rear panel is a small pcb with 2 relays which switch the transformer AC output to the rectifiers of each amp channel Relays are branded " MASSUSE", type ME-11,with a 12VDC coil, contacts 8A / 250VAC They are DPDT type.( double pole double throw) Contacts will detoriate ( burned) after several years. Replacing these relays by a good model ( Schrack i.e.) will be the final solution to get rid of the DC-error problem and will save your speakers !! The pcb can be removed without disassemling the rear cover, only the top cover is enough, but this is with very tiny TORX screws. You need a very small fitting tool.

Azur 640a ver1. when i first switch on the left hand is distorted it takes a while before it settles down.

The first thing I would try is swapping the speaker wires on the back of the amp and see if the problem moves as well. Then you know what your speakers or speaker wire. If that's not the case, then try switching the left and right
from your sources and see if the problem follows. This should get you a pretty good idea of what's wrong
