My NAD C326BEE amp goes into protection mode at moderate volume

The protection only should come on, when the power amplifier has to give more current than it can deliver. (electronic fuse)If in the music is a lot of subsonic, sound, so low you can't hear and your speakers can't produce, this could cause the problem. Normal CD players will cut of all frequencies beneath 20 Hz, but it could be your PC is giving everything from 1 Hz and above.I would certainly try to play some music over a CD player and check if that would solve your problem. Not sure if that works, what you could do to suppress the sub sonic in the computer music.

I've bought my NAD C326BEE amplifier almost two

Hi there,
I'm also a Nad fan. I find this pretty odd that you should loose two in such a short space of time. The cutting out is due to the "protection circuit". I would be inclined to get your speakers checked out as if they are faulty or not "matched" to the amp, it will trigger the amp to "protect itself" and shut off.

I plugged in my Nad

You need only look inside and follow your nose....The smell will lead you the faulty party, probably in the power supply. Just a power surge problem or something that's been going giving up the ghost.

NAD C326BEE amp problem. Connected

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as a root cause for ntermittent shutdown.

I have just bought a

Hello

You have replaced your old NAD 3020 with NAD C326BEE. You are using the old speaker system with the new NAD 326 too. The Amp you replaced [NAD 3020] have only 20W/channel output power, and the present NAD C326BEE has a rated output power of 100W/channel. Both specifications are for 8Ohms speker impedence. Your old speakers haven't got the power handling capacity for the new Amp. That is why you hear it very clear at low volume levels and disorts at high volume levels. Distortion is not due to the Amp, but with the speaker you uses. You have to replace either speaker system or the speaker in which your old speaker box is fitted, with a new one, whcih can handle the power of the present Amp. OK.

NAD S200 one channel is not working

You have a fault in the power amp. Identify the faulty channel by following the input leads. As, a stereo amp is basically two mono amps put together. You can compare the bad channel with the good one. First thing to do is a visual look around. If you see something odd looking in one channel and it's the faulty one, compared with the good channel, you might have found the cause. Look at the devices or device on the heatsink especially. If nothing stands out, the next thing to do is test the channels. You can do this in two ways. First, by touching the parts on each channel (with power on) with an insulated screwdriver. If you get a buzz in one channel and nothing in the bad one, in the same places of course! You might have located the faulty device. You can do the same with a volt meter. The readings should be the same in each channel. Work forward from the end of the preamp stage. Don't bother with the power supply parts, as they are common to both channels. By the way, don't short anything!

I have a NAD 1600 receiver for 40 years. It always worked fine!! I just moved it 15 feet to new room and volume seems stuck on high! Knob turns but volume doesn't change. What happened??

It is funny, I was just reading an article today about New Acoustic Dimension Cassette decks saying they were top of the line and equal to Nakamichi. The most likely reason is that the volume control needs cleaning with Electrical Switch Cleaner. You would have to remove the case and look. It is worth a quick spray. This says it has a motorized volume control. https://www.google.com/search?q=nad+1600+receiver+volume+on+high+volume ..

Where can I get a volume and balance control for a 1990 or so NAD 1300 preamp?

You can find volume and balance control components for the NAD 1300 preamp from a variety of sources. You can check with NAD directly, or look for parts on websites such as eBay or Amazon. Additionally, you may be able to find parts from audio/electronics shops in your local area.

Have a Nad 3020 using as preamp to Nad 2600 amp. Is there a way to hook up an equalizer

NAD (New Acoustic Dimension) was all the rage when I was into composite audio in the 1970s. Not sure why would want to tweak that sweet clear natural sound like the performers played it. Your problem will be that you are loading an amp to a pre amp. https://www.google.com/search?q=Nad+2600 https://www.google.com/search?q=Nad+3020 https://www.google.com/search?q=nad+3020+nad+2600+graphic+equalizer ..

NAD 5425 CD Player display light out

Hi aartman

Yes it does have backlamps.

They are soldered to the PCB so you will need a few tools like a soldering iron, philips screwdrivers, solder, and some replacement lamps. Replace the lamps with this type from Farnell electronics. They have a 15000 hr life expectancy and last alot longer in the unit. I have tried many types of lamps over the years, and found these are the best choice if you want them to last.

FOR YOUR SAFETY-BE SURE TO DISCONNECT FROM THE MAINS BEFORE REMOVING THE LID

To get access to the lamps, you need to pull the main PCB out of the chassis to then get access to the bottom side of the printed circuit board where the 2 screws that retain the white lamp reflector assembly. Change both lamps with the type I mentioned,
6ab9edb.jpg Be careful not to flex the LCD display that is now exposed, it is quite fragile with the support of the lamp reflector cover no longer in place. ... reverse procedure to reassemble and away you go.

I am more than happy to talk about this solution with you further. Just ask away. Cheers

Nad t753 volume control knob doesnt work

I'm going to assume that you mean it jumps around, volume up/down by itself? If so, you have a bad rotary encoder. If you are interested in having your NAD repaired, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me there. Thank you.
