I would try changing the batteries. If that doesn't do the trick then you either need to reprogram the remote or just call Dish and they will issue you a new remote.

It sounds like the remote would need to be address to the receiver. This needs to be done from the main TV location, and I have listed the steps below!

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if works.

Hello, this sounds like you have a problem with your DISH remote. If you are, here are some steps to get it working. The first set of steps is to get it working with the tv, the second for getting it working on your receiver.

TV:
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.

RECEIVER:
1. Go to System Info Screen
2. Press and release the SAT button on the remote one time
3. Press the black and red record button 3 times.
4. The number next to the remote address should change.

Have you tried unplugging the receiver for 10 seconds? Also, do the other functions on this remote work properly? You can also try reprogramming the remote by pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver and pressing the "SAT" button you should hear three tones confirming it worked. If you are trying to use your Samsung TV remote, it will not work with our DISH receiver. Some universal remotes can be programmed to the receiver but you may not get full functionality with the universal remote. Our remotes are designed to allow for functionality for the TV if programmed to the DISH remote (volume, on/off). I hope this helps.
