I keep getting a white line through the middle of the card after printed and it feels like a ridge.. I have cleaned the machine 5 times but keeps happening.... t can it be??

Hello Terri, I'm afraid it is most likely a scratched / damaged printhead. There is no alternative other than replacing the printhead assembly. If this is indeed a older Magicard Rio model (metal covers, no LCD display), then the replacement part number is FG/M9005-794. This is an expensive item though. It may not be economically viable to replace the printhead on such an old printer. I hope the above information is useful. Best Regards, MC.

Yellow shadow around letters and photo when card is printed

Hello Joseph, Could you attach a photo showing the printer's internal test card? To print the built-in test card, press and release the small test button on the rear of the printer. This may give some clues as to the cause of the problem. Check that the printer has been thoroughly cleaned with the special cleaning cards (Magicard Part Number: M9005-761). A video showing the cleaning sequence can be seen here; http://magicardonline.net/ You will need to enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box. Then choose the Videos tab on the left. Check the card thickness adjuster setting is correct. Finally, ensure there is no dye film stuck to the print roller. I hope the above information is helpful. Kind Regards, MC.

Printing lines on cards

Hello Richard, Sorry for the delay in replying to your request. You may have already resolved your issue by now. The advice below may help others with the same issue though. In the case of a damaged (scratched) printhead, the lines always run along the cards longest length (landscape), and are always in exactly the same place. They are normally White, and usually very thin (just a few pixels wide). You would also see the line on the used dye film too by unwinding some film from the take-up spool (at the front of the printer). Sometimes in the case of older out-of warranty printers, it is easier / cheaper just to avoid that are of the card using the card design. The image can also be rotated 180 degrees in the driver's Printing Preferences. However, if the card design has a solid colour background, or the White line is in the centre of the card, printhead replacement may be the only option. Depending on which Rio model you have (Rio, Rio 2, Rio2e, or Rio Pro), different printhead assemblies are available as a field replaceable unit. Part numbers are below; Magicard Rio - FG/M9005-794 Magicard Rio 2 / Rio 2e - FG/M9006-630E Magicard Rio Pro - FG/3652-0160 All are available from your local Magicard dealer / reseller. Prevention is better than cure;
  • Replace the sticky cleaning roller in the cleaning cassette as regular as possible.
  • Only use good quality blank PVC card stock (no sharp edges, or burrs)
  • Clean the printer regularly using the appropriate cleaning kit; Rio, Rio 2, Rio 2e (Cleaning kit part number: M9005-761) Rio Pro - (Cleaning kit part number 3633-0053) * Rio Pro - (Sticky roller kit (5 rollers +metal shaft) - 3633-0054)* * A sticky cleaning roller is supplied with every new dye film
Kind Regards, MC.

Flipper error

Hi There, Exactly which model do you have? Only the Rio Pro model has a flipper fitted. If it is the Rio Pro, there will also be an error number at the end of the error (18:??). Kind Regards, MC.

Yellow shadow

Hello Joseph, Is it possible to print and scan your printer's built-in internal test card. Then include a link to a good high resolution scan of the test card? On the Rio, Rio 2, and Rio 2e, push the small button on the rear of the printer (with the lid closed, and dye film fitted). For the Rio Pro, on the front panel choose Menu -> Test Card - Yes (to confirm). This will help identify the cause. Exactly which model do you have? There were several Rio models. (the one in the picture is the original Rio). Later models were Rio 2, Rio 2e, and currently the Rio Pro. Kind Regards, MC

Error code 24:06 magicard

Hi There, General Error 24:06 may indicate a problem with the front card sensor (very rare though). Open the lid, remove the dye film. Check that there are no cards jammed near the front of the printer (just before the flipper unit). Try unplugging the printer. Cancel all print jobs if any are pending. Plug in the printer. Once initialised, open the lid, run through the cleaning sequence (a Magicard cleaning kit - 3633-0053 is required). If the problem persists even after cleaning, contact your Magicard dealer. The warranty status can be checked here; http://www.magicardonline.net Enter the serial number of your printer in the QuickSearch box (Menu -> Info -> Serial Number) Hope this helps, MC.

The problem is with a Magicard Rio 9purchased

Question is, was the card jammed, because the printer went defect on that moment. Or did you introduce a defect when you were removing the card?

Card jam please clear printer

Hi Imran,I realise you probably resolved this issue a long time ago, but this may help others with the same problem (Card Jam on Rio Pro / Enduro / Enduro+).Immediately after the Card Jam - Please clear printer mechanism, there should be an error number. All card jam errors begin with 06:??. Most common would be Card Jam 06:05.This error means that the rear card sensor has detected a card. However, the card has not past through the sensor. This could indicate a failed card sensor (always on). This may sometimes be caused by static on the cards. To confirm this, switch to 'Hand Feed Mode' (on the front panel: Menu -> Hand Feed Mode -> ON). Cards are then fed (when requested) from the hand-feed slot on the front of the printer. If the error changes from Card Jam 06:05, to General Error 24:08, this would suggest a faulty rear card sensor (very rare).Try leaving the printer switched off, and with the DC power disconnected for a few hours. If the problem persists, you should contact Magicard Technical Support. With Best Regards,MC.
