simple power cycle may solve the problem if not reset the router
power off to router and hold 10 sec and power on
reset is pressing on reset button for 30 sec and release god luck

Is it a new router? Your Linksys WRT120N needs resetting. Reset the Linksys router & reconfigure as per your requirement. I had two such routers giving trouble for the WiFi connectivity & which were new. You will be able to connect your router.

Do a hard reset ... find the small hole in the bottom or the rear of the device and with a straight pin press gently and hold the small button inside for 30 seconds.

This will set you to the original user name which is blank and the pass which is generally Admin.

You can use WAP4410N Access Point in Repeater Mode with WRT120N to extend the wireless signal.

You could also try the Hawking HWREN1 Hi-Gain Wireless-300N Range Extender.

Another route you can try is Linksys WMP600N High-speed Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band.

There is no need for installation cd; just use your internet browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla e.t.c.) in order to connect at the router's ip and make the proper settings. In case you don't know your router's ip, follow this guide:
Connect your computer with ethernet cable at the router and after the connection has been established, hit start - run - type cmd. At the new black window type ipconfig and hit enter. You will get the results for both ethernet and wireless connections (if a wireless one exixsts). The line for Default Gateway is the one containing your router's ip.

Step 1 : Connect Router - Computer

Step 2 : open Router Setup by typing http://192.168.1.1 on the address bar of internet explorer (Default Password is Admin )

Step 3 : Click Applications and Gaming

Step 4 : Click DMZ

Step 5 : Select Enable and Give the IP Address of the XBOX/PS3/Wii in it

Step 6 : Click Save settings

Step 7 : Unplug the Power cord from the router and turn Off XBOX /PS3/Wii

Step 8 : Plug the power cord back to the router and wait till the lights are Solid

Step 9 : Turn on the Xbox/PS3/Wii

Step 10 : Test the Connection

you can either use the red reset button between the ethernet ports and the power jack, or restore the
defaults from the Administration > Factory Defaults screen of the Router's browser-based utility.

If u dont remember the passowrd of the router just press and hold the Reset button in router for 15 seconds

Then turn on the Router and connect it to the computer using LAN cable.

There was firmware just released 2 days ago for that router, you definitely want to upgrade it.

Once downloaded you need to log into the router, go to the maintenance tab / advanced tab and look for upgrade firmware. Then you just point it to this file I have linked for you and it will upgrade!

Are you trying to set up router ?
You can set up your router manually, without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online directly through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem, that means the modem is working fine.
You will need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.

2. Default Username: Blank Password: admin
3. Click on administration->Management and You can change the router's login password
   

If you want to change the wireless security

1. Wireless->Wireless security
2. Select WPA personal or WPA2 personal based on your requirement
3. Then type a passphrase which has to be 8 or more characters.

Are you trying to set up the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
Make sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is not able to go online through the modem then you will need to call ISP first.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
then you need to connect the computer to the router and the modem to the router.

What type of OS do you have? if its stating that setup doesn't support it, you prob need to upgrade your OS system, or purchase other item that was or is intended for your OS.

So, just to confirm:
PC via ethernet has internet connection OK?
The router IP is 192.168.1.1
The PC ethernet IP is 192.168.1.n (n is not 1)
If you unplug the ethernet cable, you no longer have a connection.

If these are correct, did you previously have wireless internet working? If so, just reboot the router (unplug its power).

If not, you'll need to check the wireless settings in the router with those of your wireless network card, making sure you are using matching security settings (WPA-PSK, AES256, matching 'key').

To access the router, browse to http://192.168.1.1 (ensure your ethernet is plugged in). If you haven't changed from the default login details, you'll find them in the router manual.

Hello, Sit at your computer and open up IE browser. After this has opened up, go up to the url bar and erase anything there and when this is blank, type in http://192.168.1.1 then hit the enter key. The router should now pop up a login menu close to the middle of your monitor. The default password for Linksys routers is ADMIN leave the user name blank and just enter the password ADMIN This then will open up the routers main menus and at the top of the tabs look for the tab named "wireless" click on this tab and look this menu over and you should find the box to check or uncheck to accomplish what you want done. Good luck. By the way, while your in the routers menu "Change the Default Password" to something that you have to write down! leaving the password set the the factory default is a huge mistake. Like leaving all your windows and doors open going on a long vacation! Got it? Dennis
