I have a Toshiba L455 and it shows 3 green lights

Sounds like your CPU and HeatSink needs a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on them. You'd have to take the laptop apart to do it. It's shortening out because the paste is dry and causing metal to touch metal and shortening out.

Please enter hdd1/ssd1 password....how to

I presume that this message comes up when you first turn the laptop on. In that case the Hard Drive has been lock with a password. The is no way to remove this with either knowing the password or sending the laptop to a specialist who can remove the password for you.

Hi dajonj...

Try this solution to your problem...
*******************************************
Start your computer
1. Keep pressing "F1,F2 or F8" as the laptop computer starts. (Depending on your computer)
This will start the computer in Safe Mode.
2. When the window "Advanced Boot Options" opens, choose "Safe Mode" with arrow key and confim by pressing the Enter key, then PC enters the Safe Mode.
3. Once you are in the Safe mode Click "Administrator" on the Windows login screen.
Take note that you have set the Administrator password before, you need to input the changed password instead of leaving "Password" field blank.
4. Then click Start > Control Panel > User Accounts > Select the account that is locked and change the password.
5. Restart laptop and login into the account you just created using your new password.
Please take time to rate me thumbs up

I need to restore my

Dear Friend,

Reboot your computer and wait for the Toshiba Bios logo, after that simply press either the F10 or F11 or F12 key. This usually allows you to access to the recovery side of the disc, allowing you to restore the Laptop to the factory specification. Might sure you are following the easy steps that the software is telling you to do.

SAVE ALL YOU DATA BEFORE DOING THIS!!! otherwise you are going to loose all your files...

Good Luck!

Hello, I recently had a Toshiba

You hit the correct jumpers for this model to remove the motherboard bios lock, which shows you have done your homework well. Toshiba, like Dell set a bios lock and HDD lock on some laptops for security reasons, often when the cmos battery needs changing, it manifests itself.

As to why you got this request for a bios pass is very odd, if you did not change the cmos battery, however, removing the battery as you state would not fix the hard drive problem. The hard drive will remain locked and if, as I suspect, it is a security measure, you will not be able to remove it and externally access files or even format it by slaving it in another computer or docking station.

Your best solution would be to contact a Toshiba service centre and explain the problem and ask them for a bios unlock code. IF this was installed at the factory, they should be able to remove it (you WILL be asked to provide proof of ownership)

I have heard of some laptops being "time locked", which is where the time/ date settings in the bios trigger a request for a bios password for security purposes, but never actually seen this occur. This might explain why the bios pass request appeared randomly as it did. There is the possibility that this was caused by a virus, although, again, I've never heard of this happening.

I have a new satellite

Try running updates from Windows (or whatever OS you are running) as well as updates provided by the manufacturer. Toshiba provides some support here in the form of an update manager. I recommend installing the manager, if not installed, and using it to update the system.

I have a Toshiba satellite

Need the full model number from the bottom of the laptop, it'll be something like "L300-EZ1525"

From there you can go to the toshiba website and look for the camera drivers.

Go to: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp
Click the blue Download link
Select Laptop in the left category,
Select Satellite Pro in the next category,
Select L300-XXXXXXX replacing the X's with your specific model,
Then hit go.

On the next page you get a long list of downloads, click on the drop down that says "All Categories" and select "Driver".

The list is updated with drivers only, look for anything that says Camera, if there are any you may notice it says Windows 7, click that and download that and you should be good to go. Otherwise you can try the one for Windows Vista, if that doesn't work, you'll have to contact Toshiba support by email or phone and see if they have a solution.

Please enter HDD1/SSD1 User password

If you get prompted for the HDD password when turning on the computer, and you do not know it you will need to call Toshiba support. Circumventing an HDD password is not an easy task.
Also there where Toshiba laptops, model 6100, that when the user was suddenly prompted for the HDD password Toshiba replaced the HDD under warranty.
