When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

hello screwdra it sounds like you dont have the correcrt video driver for your webcam.

1. go to the start menu
2. tyoe in "device manager"
3. go to the "action" menu in the top part of that window
4. select the "scan for hardware changes" option

Make sure that you have unscrewed at the bottom side of the laptop. One of those screws holds the DVD drive in place. When you are sure all these screws are removed, open the DVD drive's tray using a straightened paper clip inserted in the hole on the front panel of the DVD drive. Next, hold the DVD drive's tray & pull it out of its slot.

1. Take the battery out of the laptop & try to turn on the laptop using power adapter only. If the computer turns on, then the battery is defective & needs to be replaced.
2. Make sure the power adapter is not defective. Test the output voltage of the power adapter using a voltmeter. Compare the voltmeter reading to the nominal value written on the adapter or the laptop.
3. If you have another processor which is compatible with your laptop's model, try swapping processors & test to see if the laptop will work.
4. The motherboard could be defective & needs to be replaced.

1. Check your power cord & adapter.
2. If its working then check the battery, reseat the battery & check.
3. If available then check with another battery
4. If no, then remove the battery & switch on the PC in AC mode.
5. Check if battery charging indication or AC power on indication is glowing. if not then need to change ur motherboard.
6. If indication is OK, but could not power ON then check ur RAM for any loose connection or dust. clean & reinstall.
7. If still no display, connect an external monitor, check if display is comming.
8. If Display is coming then your LCD need to replace.

try remove your battery n insert again...or try use ac adapter without battery

Replace it and it should fix it.But if it still doesn't work *********** board is bad.

Brian Wells wants more answers to this question Brian start your own post tell what PC you have, nobody did yet why hyjack posts that fail at least that fact. or go to gateway forum google gateway forum is this heard, ? ask the maker to help you fix this. on most forums this is an ******* post now. hacking passwords so keep that in mind first. ok, things changed in last 5 years. and learn to go to Gateway.com and contact them directly. they will (by laws now) be forced to make you prove you own it. LAWS, in usa NIST and DOJ and in Europe too. history 101: some very PCs old had jumpers. then later back door passwords, now 2018 those are *******. and last , none of the above allowed, by design, 2018., only the maker can help. on newer PCs from about w8 introduction UEFI rules.

I can't tell you that... but if you want to get it work again, install the newest drivers from NVidia and it should work.

Did it come with Win8 installed already? Was it ever working before? Or did you install Win8 on this machine and now it won't boot up?

penguintech October 18, 2012 9:36:23 PM what are you trying to do? if your trying to recover from the partition and it is not allowing you to do so, you may have corrupted the restore partition. or you let the 30 days expire and you have no choice but to reinstall or purchase a legal license. Either way, it may be best to contact gateway for original disks (usually a minimal fee) and once your back up and running, make sure you make a set of recovery disks before you do anything else.

If it is a new hard drive it could need formatting or if it already has software loaded it could need the drive formatting on a different machine. I have noticed something strange, probably in the bios settings of one computer I had contact with recently. It resisted all attempts to load an operating system on an empty drive but loading an operating system with a different machine and then reinstalling the drive in the original it accepted the new operating system without any further hitches. Another thing to think about was the time we tried to take a look at a hard drive and all my friend's machines refused to read it. It turned out his machines had 32 bit operating systems and the fresh hard drive was on 64 bit.
