koolmomof2:
From the user manual (
click here for manual) on page 2, it states:
"This camera is compatible with SD memory cards, SDHC memory cards and SDXC memory cards."
So, and memory card that displays any one of these three types will work with your camera.
Here are some examples of SDXC memory cards being sold over the Internet: (

Trying to download photos but computer saying
Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.
Cannot set camera so date and time will stamp on
The camera will not deface your pictures by scrawling a string of numbers across the image. However the date and time (and a lot more) are stored with every image file. Depending on the program and printer, you can print this on the image, in the margins, or on the back. Refer to the documentation for the program you're using to print.
If you're printing from the camera to a PictBridge-compatible printer, you can turn on the date imprinting: it's the second item on the Print setting screen. See the "Printing" section in the camera manual (page 178 in my copy).
My new canon EOS 550D
I agree...return it. A brand new camera should be making you happy, not frustrated.
My Canon 550d is new and right out of the box on
the flash only covers a certain range and the built in flash has quite a small range. so lets say its dark in the room and you take a shot of a person they probably look really bright but the background is pretty dark, thats pretty normal and its better not to use flash, now in the auto mode without flash it will be using a higher "ISO" number to get you brighter shots indoors. shots may look slightly grainer but it means its brighter and the 550d handles low light pretty well.
in auto mode you have no control over the ISO but put the camera into P mode which is basically auto but with access to more controls which you can override. now next to the shutter button there is an "ISO"button. experiment with the different numbered setting (100 being low 3200 being high) and you will see what I mean
Need how to playback video from a canon t2i
so go into playback which is the blue button with the triangle. this is where you can view all you videos and photos. now in the left hand corner a video icon will appear when you selected a video rather than a photo. one you have done this press the "set button" which is the middle button on the directional pad and now you should see some controls come up on the screen, simply press the set button again and now your playing back video.

theres no date a time stamp on the photo itself with DSLRs but the meta data is kept on file in the photo so it has recorderd the time and date. depending on what photo printing software your using you can bring up the time and date back on the photo. I have canon photo printer and using the bundled software easy photo print, it allows me to print time and date of the photo. or if you use adobe lightroom you can get the time and date back on the photo. the time and date stamp is more of a compact camera rather than DSLR.
I have canon rebel t2i,just
check your memory card your using witht he camera. 550d is memory hungry and needs a high speed DSLR grade card such as the sandisk ultra 2 or extreme cards. or lexar professional series. sounds like you may have a faulty card or a card thats designed more for compact cameras and mp3 players
Recently purchased a Canon 550D
you maybe taking shots in raw which is fine but depending on what OS you have and computer hardware might mean your pc is struggling to open them. might want to check your photo resolution settings by pressing menu button and on the first list you should see the quality mode your using try taking shots in jpeg see if that helps.
if its already taking photos in jpeg then i highly recommend downloading picasa as it has an excellent photo viewer which you can enable as your default photo viewer. opens raw and jpeg photos no problem.
How to connect vivitar wide angle lens and
make sure the vivtar lens is "58mm" diameter (shoutstate this near the fron of the vivtar lens) then it should be a question of screwing the lens on top of the other lens. not the best way of getting wide angle shots as the 18-55 is pretty soft in focusing already and adding another inferior lens will make it look poor. if you don't want to buy a lens i would suggest investing in a tripod and take multiple shots with the 18-55 and stitch them together with a photo editing tool like photoshop

red blinking is memory card activity so should wait. try putting the camera into playback mode when connecting to a computer and computer should come up with a range of options. if all things fail go get yourself a memory card reader and take the card out of the camera and transfer your photos that way. its better on your cameras battery life and its quicker
When trying to playback photos
which rules out that it is the SC card that isn\'t working Not necessarily, switching SD memory card from one camera to another without formatting isn't going to happen. If the SD card was new and not formatted in the camera that it's going to be used in then there could be a lot of different errors occurring. Also if pictures were downloaded from the memory card to the computer and the card not formatted this will cause a problem as well. If you have been deleting the pictures files then again this could be a problem the card needs to be formatted. Another IF is if you downloaded pictures from the computer to the SD card and then put it back in the camera without formatting then it's not going to acknowledge the card. If you formatted the SD card in the computer then it's not going to work or work properly in the camera. Picture files can go from the camera to the computer but not back again because the computer operating system and software is not compatible with the camera firmware. It all comes back to format the memory card in the camera you are using it in before taking pictures.

The date stamp will only work when the camera's resolution is set to postcard mode. Press Func/set, scroll down to the bottom, then across to the icon with the clock and mountain. It will say "postcard". Press Func/set again. Then press Menu, scroll down to "Date stamp" and across to select date or date and time, then press menu again

Check your ISO setting. If you have it really high it will introduce a lot of color noise to your pics.
I rarely shoot above ISO 800 on my 40D to reduce noise in the photos.
If your ISO is low then you may have a problem with the processor.
Hello guys, I'm an amateur
It's hard to say if anything is really wrong with the camera. It sounds like you haven't gone through the manual and tried the features as they are explained.
I have a Canon EOS 630, 35-135 ultrasonic lens and
Different technology between your film camera and the digital era The flash won't synchronize properly with the new digital you will need an EX type flash the 35-135 will work but because the digital has a focal factor of 1.6 compared to your 35-135 it will become a 56-216mm. Keep your EOS 630 as a back up to the digital.
