I was in the middle
Hello
The problem is that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the
probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.
Use
these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.
Firstly ,
try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.
Try holding the
shutter button while switching on the camera.
Look at the lens ,
and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then
try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).
Try gently
pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may
cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.
Another
way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and
then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to
not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and
down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the
camera is enough to get things going again.
Try hitting your
camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of
your hand.
Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to
replace the camera.
If it is still under warranty I would suggest
you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any
off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about
warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need
any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you

My card is locked
There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Other causes include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found
at this link.

Here's a workaround...get a separate card reader and download to a folder you create on your desktop. Then, send them to Photoshop.
How do I get the language back to English on my
Press the Play button (the right-pointing triangle). Touch and hold MENU in the lower right corner of the screen. (If there are images on the memory card, touch FUNC at the lower left corner to display MENU.) Touch English, then touch the curved arrow at the upper right corner.
Doesn't this do it?

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

"Change batter pack" means your battery is dead. The camera should have come with a charger in the bok that can plug into the outlet in your wall. It uses a lithium ion battery, so you can't use a regular AA batter charger, for instance. You cannot charge the battery via the usb into your computer.

are you running xp,vista,7, OSX?
if you're running windows, you can try going to the control panel/ Add Remove Programs, then click on your Canon Camera and see if it gives you a repair option.
Otherwise you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver that came with the camera.
If it didn't come with one you can download it off their website.

How to tranfer videos from
Its is best to have the picture software for the camera already installed on your computer. If you don't have the disc, go to the manufactureres website and download it. Then install it. That being said -
There are two ways to transfer video from a camera to a pc.
You can connect the cord while the pc is turned on and this will prompt for a command to copy and/or transfer all images to the pc. Just follow the prompts and hit "ok" when requested.
The other method is to transfer by memory card if your pc has a slot to directly insert it. Some printers have a slot to insert the memory card too. When a card is inserted, the pc will recognize it and ask what you want to do? Just follow the prompts to save all images to your computer.
