First adjust main screen as you want if to be (ie black and white mode). Once you have your default selected go to additional functions. Go to the copy selection and with in that list there is the section to save default settings. Now when you restart machine B/W and all other setting will be default. Good Luck

This is an error code for the Hard Drive. You can possibly save the HDD by powering of the copier and then turn it back on while holding down the 1 and 9 keys at the same time. You may have to hold these keys down for several seconds. This is similar to a check disk procedure on computers. This may take some time to do. There should be a box in the upper left corner of the display and will drop down to the bottom of the screen. The boxes dropping will eventually fill the screen and the copier should indicate to power down. If after powering back up you don't come to ready you may have to have a tech either format the dard drive and install the latest system software or even worse replace the HDD.

I'm not familiar with this particular model but if it's like the IR color copiers this should help you. First select the black mode for the copier, Then press the additioanl function key, then copy settings, then look for standard settings. I can't remember if you have to use the arrow keys at the bottom to see this. Anyway select standard settings, then STORE, then then confirm these are the settings you want then YES. Press reset and see if the settings are what you wish.

On the main copy display your device is probably set to the factory defaults which means that when you press reset the device is in "AUTO COLOR". Touch the "AUTO COLOR" tab on the screen and a drop down menu will show. Select "BLACK AND WHITE". Now press the "ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS"key. Select COPY SETTINGS located at the top right. Scroll down till you see STANDARD SETTINGS and select it. Press STORE. You are fixed!!! Please let FIXYA know I helped. :-) SPINAL

What is the error code or what is being displayed on the control pannel > It will give a starting point as to what is going on with the copier.

At control panel touch additional functions button, system settings, initialize all data. This takes about 30 min. just follow instructions on screen.

Hi. Have you tried resetting your machine? Turn it off first, then unplug the power cable. After a few minutes, try to turn it on. Be sure that you cancel out all jobs to be printed. If your unit still wont work and it is still within 1 year warranty, try to call 800-423-2366 for Canon Automated support or 757-413-2848 to speak to a Canon Technician.
