I presume the iPad turns on normally and works. You just want to unlock it to be able to install non-approved software. In that case you need to JAILBREAK to unlock the iPad. Yes you need software to Jailbreak, and software to back up data, plus you need step by step instructions you "must" follow exactly in order for the Jailbreak to be successful. Since each IOS requires a specific program, you must search for a program which does an iPad4 plus the IOS on the iPad. Finding a jailbreak is quite simple by entering in Google Search "Jailbreak for iPad 4" that's if a jailbreak exists for your specific iPad. After hitting a few sites and reading carefully you should be set.

You might try this...you can set your side button on upper left corner edge of ipad to either mute volume or lock screen (stop it from rotating). Check how yours is set...Go into settings>general>Use side switch to: see if it is set on mute. If it is switch it to Lock Rotation. Now that side switch will lock or unlock screen rotation. See if that might stop your volume icon from popping up. Good luck!

Are you using the 5 volt 2.1 amp charger. The ipad won't charge with out this charger.

Turn off ipad open itunes in your computer connect ipad to computer follow instructions in itunes

Connect your ipad to a laptop. then it will notify you if your for upgrades. Note if your ipad was synchronized with other laptop or account. They contents of the ipad will be erased. So backup first before any upgrade

go to settings and go down to mail, contacts and calenders option and once you are there click on the account that is causing the issue. then you can either delete the account and add it again or just click on account email and make sure you put the details correctly. let me know how it goes :)

I don't have an iPad, but I did find this article. Sounds pretty much like what you're describing. Maybe this will help. It does say that making you connect to iTunes is for your protection in the event that someone steals your ipad. Keep in mind, I have no idea how data is synced on an iPad, so I don't know if you may lose saved data on the device. Yes. All iOS updates are free however I would highly recommend you backup your device prior to updating.

You device may be muted. Try turning the volume up and make sure you do not have earphones plugged in

1. Plug the iPad into your computer to sync it.
2. When the iPad management screen appears, click the "Photos" tab at the top.
3. Check the "Sync Photos" box at the top.
4. From the drop-down menu next to that, select the program or folder that contains your photo library.
5. Depending on what program you use, you'll have different options. These may include syncing individual galleries or your entire photo album.
6. If you're syncing a folder of images, you can navigate through your hard drive to find the correct folder and then sync that entire folder or just select subfolders in it.
