For the pair i have, they are attached to an amplifier which provides the power to these speakers. without the amplifier, these speakers will not work. Now you can take the speakers to radioshack or a similar company and see if there is an specific type of amplifier that you can buy to work with these speakers, but im not sure if the speakers work at all!

Those Boston digital speakers were supplied with a few Dell models as part of a package. They need a digital input, and the Creative sound card supplied with those models had digital output. Your new Dell only has an analog output which isn't compatible. The speakers aren't seeing any input signal. The problem is from the windows 7 you install, the windows 7 is not compatible with your Boston Accoustics digital speakers, because if it is, with the upgrade you did, it should work.
The best bet is, you will need to re-install xp if you need the sound from your speaker, but before you re-install windows xp, i will suggest you uninstall windows 7 and re-install, if it did not solve the problem. re-install windows xp.
Take care.
