you should have a USB lead with a headphone jack on it which attaches to yr computer or to a u s b plug socket as this is the only way u can charge up a shuffle i pod..to download music onto it u need an mp3 converter like N C H it has all you need to get music movies and more it converts them when you have collected all the music you want.

Sorry, there is no reset button. If the battery is charged and there's music loaded on it, but it won't play, it's probably wrecked. Perhaps try reformatting it as a drive -- it may solve the problem or it may brick it.

I previously had an even cheaper device that used the same chipset, and it just died one day. The battery is still good, and it works as a flash drive, but it refuses to play music. Perhaps your device died in the same way(?)

The Sylvania SMP2012 charges fully in under 15 minutes on a regular USB port. Sometimes it's much quicker.

When the device is charging, both the red and green LEDs are lit (not flashing). When the device is fully charged, the green LED turns off, and only the red LED is on.

Click on the link given below to download the Firmware folder on your computer. When done, refer to file "procedure.doc", a Word file included in the Firmware folder, and follow the procedure to upgrade the Firmware of MP3 player. Download the Firmware folder at

Welcome to Fixya

Try to plug the player to other computer and see if it will do the same thing. If it does, the problem could be the USB cord. Try to replace the USB cord that connects your player to your computer. If other can detectthe palyer then the problem is your usb port.

Thank you for using Fixya!
