It's likely that the cheap POS start switch under the button has fallen off the cheesy plastic mounting and the button isn't contacting it. Put it back so the ears on switch are under the slots in the panel and dab a TINY bit of super glue where the tabs go into the panel. www.appliancefixxa.com

VDB450 VIKING DISHWASHER BLINKS ONCE ON NORMAL AND

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

To replace check this link:

http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1293/how-to-replace-the-spraying-system-on-a-dishw.html

Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water.

Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Hello Maureen Johnson, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by acknowledging your post indicates the problem is with your dishwasher not starting/functioning, however if you could post the complete model & serial number I would be better equipped to help you further. If you could also verify it is a Viking (built by Asko) as the header suggests.

I'll look forward to your reply and try and help you move forward from there.

Thank you. Regards,

Lower spray arm came off, part broken which holds

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

I believe the part you're referring to is called the lower spray arm bearing. It should be listed as part number 8057067-77.

This part is available at "repairclinic.com" for around $20USD. It will include what is shown here...

macmarkus_574.jpg

The part on their site actually appears upside down so I've rotated it 180degrees as it should appear. Let me know if you have any further questions and I'll try to help in any manner I can. Good luck.

Dishwasher does not fully drain.

If the drain pipe is accessible, take it out of the trap pipe that it should be sitting in, place the open end in a bowl and lower the bowl to the floor. If you are lucky, the force of the water may bring any blockage with it. Does the water drain and was there any solids in the water? If the bowl starts getting full, simlpy raise the pipe upso that the open end is above the level in the dishwasher and the water will stop.

If no solids came out with the water, it sounds as though the pump is not running. If no water comes out at all, then you have a full blockage, usually caused by congealed fat. Take the strainer out from the inside of the dishwasher and have a look.

Come back if still not sorted.

Hi

The issue seems to be with the float switch assembly that is bad and should be replaced. Float assembly is found inside the dishwasher's tub, on the bottom. The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling and/or draining ability. Use your voltmeter to test the switch. Set the device to the ohms setting x 1. Take each probe and touch them to one switch terminal each. This should produce a reading of either zero or infinity. Continue to touch the probes to the terminals, and press down on the switch's button. The reading should change to the opposite extreme. If your switch fails either of these tests, you should replace it. Hope this helps...please post back for further assistance.

Dishwasher viking model vdb450ss error

Hello there,

If you're certain this model number is correct, the error code indicates a "drain timeout error". This means the machine has tried and failed to pump out within a specified time limit. Please run through the following checklist to correct this problem:

1. Check and clean the filters
2. Check the drain hose isn't kinked and check for any blockages in the drain hose.
3. Make sure the hose has a high loop as per the installation instructions
4. If draining into a garbage disposal . . .

- Remove the plug from the disposal to allow air entry / eliminate any potential vacuum.
- Run water through the disposal to check for blockages

5. Ensure dishwasher is level, front to back and left to right.

When you've checked all of the above, reset the dishwasher by holding the START button for a minimum of four seconds to clear the error message.

My slight question mark over the model number is because you referred to "heavy cycle". The VDB450SS does have a heavy cycle but it's called "pot & pans" on this model. Other Viking dishwashers explicity say "Heavy" but a flashing LED above heavy on another model may indicate an entirely different fault. This is an overfill error code on some models.

If you definitely have the VDB450SS, you should be able to solve the problem using the checklist above. If you have any other model. please reply to me by clicking on "Add a Comment" below your question for further assistance. Please verify the correct model number if/when replying and whether any other LEDs are also flashing.

Thanks,
BElectric

If you have hard water, glasses can look spotted and cloudy even after cleaning. Sometimes changing the dishwasher detergent can help. The easiest solution to clearing up glasses that start to look cloudy is toadd some vinegar to the bottom of the dishwasher before you start a cycle. Simply add 1 cup of white vinegar and it will clear up your glasses very well.
You should see marked improvement after the first time you do this. If they are not crystal clear then simply repeat the process until all of the cloudiness is gone. In fact I recommend to using a little vinegar in each cycle to maintain the clarity of the glass.

Note: you can pre-test this by rubbing some vinegar on an individual glass with a cloth. If you cannot remove the cloudiness by soaking it and rubbing vinegar on it then it is possible that the glass is etched due to harsh or cheap dishwasher detergent and vinegar will not solve the problem.

The red arrow keeps blinking

Hello,

You either have a blocked drain line drain pump, or water is in the base pan. behind the toe kick is a base pan that will catch water if the flood switch is activated this condition will occur. I know this dishwasher very well can help you fix it yourself.

Viking VDB450SS i have the same

Please check the door switch in the first place , remove power to the washer and check the continuity of the switch , Now trace the wires to the main panel controller check on the connections on the main panels, check all the wires leading from the main panel to the valves, pump and the motor.
Once you have made sure that the connections are correct, then check the cycle/program as the washer is switched on.
The blinking is an error and is related to a processor resetting due to its failure or an input problem.
There are no controls active on the customer pad and so no reset is possible.
Remove the power and remove the controller unit , warm up the unit to clear off any moisture. Disconnect one by one the outputs , the valve, the pump, heater and the motor.
If the blinking is relative to a short then the related removal of wire to the circuit will bring back the controller to reset.
If none of these works the possible fault can be the controller unit.

Viking VDW302SS--trying to pump out water that isn't there

If your machine is trying to pump out water that is not there, check the float level sensor. That is the detector that checks for water level during filling. If the pipe/mechanism is blocked, in the full position, the sensor will indicate that there is still water to be pumped out ... that is assuming the water has been pumped out otherwise look for a blockage in the outlet pipe.
