This player was made by Funai as has several machines by several companies that are nearly identical. Use the Funai codes until you come across one that works. They have very few codes so it should be really easy. I got my comcast 3 device, universal to work in under 5 min.

There is a post I made at insigniaproducts.com in the forums about some codes that work with this player.

Have you updated the firmware on it? If not go to insigniaproducts.com and do so. If you are trying a Blu-ray movies(you said DVD but you never know) it could be that the player needs a update to support your movie.

Also see the forums at insigniaproducts.com to get info on updates and to let insignia know you still want updates to continue using this player. We need to get them to update this player for at least a year or two longer. My BRDVD is only about a year old and want to keep it for at least 3 years.

Your laser could be dead. What message does it display onscreen when you try? If it is a "disc read" error or something along those lines it means(in most cases) the laser is dead. It would be expensive to fix it and would be better to buy a new player.(insignia has a 1 year warrantee so you may want to check and see if you can get a new player)

There is no charge for the BRDVD firmware although Insignia has been bad about the updates. This play is made by Funai and has several sister models.

Insignia has only released one firmware update while Funai has continued to support the products and has plans to support it for a unspecified time to come with a firmware update that just came out on March 1st.

On a side note please go into the forums and look at the messages for updates on the disc problems and such. We are trying to convince Insignia to stick with their customers and update the player as Funai is so we can get some use out of what we paid for.

also go into the forums and post that you still use the player and want updates. Funai is stil releasing them but Insignia is being a pain about it. I hve only had this player a little over a year and expected it to be used at least three years.............................the more people that talk the longer the player will be updated!

i will suggest you check the lens if it is still working properly. then you can tell why it seems to be giving such fault.

clean the lens and try it again.

the disc you are trying could also be a problem so you make sure the disc is ok before trying to play it on your dvd.

You can just buy a new remote. Test it using the smartphone front camera trick. Or it is the television that has no signal, do a Power Reset. Pull the mains plug for 5 minutes. Press and hold the power button on the set for 1 minute. Plug back in. Also check the input leads on the back for whatever is supplying the signal, Cable, Satellite, OTA, then check the Source button on the remote.

Cheaper to replace the TV than repair this problem.

Sounds like a bad panel board, meaning the panel is bad and that part isn't replaceable, you can try a tcon but I don't think it will fix it

You can enable customize Parental Controls via your TV's on screen menu. If you have previously set a password, you will need to re-enter your password to begin. If you have forgotten your password, try 0000 (four zeros) or 3448 (the default password may vary by TV model, so consult your User Manual for details). You can find detailed instructions for using the parental controls in your TV User Manual, available for download at InsigniaProducts.com. Just search for your TV model number and click on the Support/Download tab. I hope this helps.

There is a problem with the TV's power supply and also an over heating problem as well.Or the connections are loose here.
