DISH Network ViP722 DTV Receiver / 350-Hours Video Recorder - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
How do you keep the reciever from Overheating
The VIP722 always runs hot. A build up of dust can restrict air flow and cause overheating. When I had the VIP722, I had a small USB powered fan at the left-rear corner of the box to force cooling. I switched to a Hopper 3 and found the external cooling was not necessary. Hopper 3 has 16 tuners, so you never have conflicts.

I have a ViP722 DTV. I bought a new 52 inch sanyo
I've had a few battles with Dishnetwork myself anfd the only thing you can do, if you want to keep the service is, 1 Pay a 15.00 fee for them to come out or, 2 Ge them o the phone and they will take you through a diagnostics with you which should end up with them sending you a new receiver in abox that you will put your old receiver in adn return it to them. I paid the 15.00 fee because I refused to go throuh the diagnostics over the phone. I've had mine replaced at least three times. Other than having to deal with them over the phone, I like the service and I had even bigger problems with Directv. If you already have changed your frequencies and that doesn't work, the only other thing you can try is pulling the piece out at the bottom of remote under where it says "dish Networks" and turn it over. The piece does come out. I'm pretty sure they will not let you out of your contract so you will end up with additional fees if you drop the service.

How do I get out of demo mode
The DEMO mode is a setting in your TV and not your DISH receiver. For most TVs, use your TV remote, hit menu, and dig around until you see an option to reset all settings, or something phrased the same way. The TV should turn off then on, then ask you to set up your TV again. If you need more info, check your TV's owners manual.

You can lookup codes if needed here:

1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if it is working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Dish remote 2 will not work all it does is turn on tv that's all.
Hello, Frances.I can definitely provide some steps for you, and assist in getting this taken care of. I have listed the steps below to program the remote to your receiver. Make sure there are fresh batteries in the remote. Then take the TV2 remote to the main TV, and access the System Information screen. From there, hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the number pad on the remote. Press the pound (#) button. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Test the remote and see if it works. If it's still having problems, let me know here!Tommy FaustDISH Social Media Representative

My vip 722 stopped working with my hdmi cable and now my picture sucks
singermandon,I can understand the frustration. There are a few possibilities for what's causing a problem. The first could be a bad cable. If you have an alternate HDMI cable, try it and see if there's any change. If you try another cable and the problem persists, then it is possible it may be the port on the receiver itself. Let me know here if the replacement cable doesn't work!Tommy FaustDISH Social Media Representative
