Your Belkin may be using WPA2 for security. Access the router and change it to WPA Personal.

If you have a working Windows wireless machine, you can extract the key from the Windows machine and use it on your other devices.

You can learn the WEP or WPA key in use which you can then use on other devices.
If there are no other working wireless devices, you will need to log on to your access point and reset the password there. The instructions for that depend on your access point.

Please read over this troubleshooting guide by Belkin.... Just because you did not set up an administrator password should have no effect on the Internet connectivity issues.... They ship from the factory by default without a password set - FWIW, I run my router without anything changed from default settings and I have no problems with connecting to the Internet....

Use an Ethernet cable to connect the network-port on your computer to one of the 'LAN' ports on the router.

Then, access the web-server "inside" the router, and login to the router, and run the "Wireless Networking Setup Wizard", to configure the wireless adapter:
* set an SSID -- your "network-name"
* set an encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password

Then, use the SSID/password on your wireless device(s).

disable firewall or WPS in router

As i understand you have a router provided by your ISP: MTNL, you need to configure the Belkin router in Dynamic mode and not in PPPoE. Then restart the devices by unplugging the power from MTNL router and Belkin. Wait for 20 secs, then power up MTNL router 1st, wait for all lights to get steady and finally power up the Belkin wireless router. Then you will find the modem and internet light lit up properly.

This dongle ahould auto detect and auto install. Shut down your PC, plug in the dongle and re-boot. If the dongle is ok, windows will detect it and install the drivers. If you have an early copy of XP, you may have to download and install USB drivers.

It's the router. The download rate sucks. I'm sure if you've ever tried watching videos on You-Tube via your WIFI connection, you probably get aggrevated with it because the video will play for like 30-45 secs and then lock up. The easiest way to solve these problems is to direct connect whenever possible.

1.Primarily, if you use a N standard wireless router, you must go in for the same N standard adapter, to get full efficiency. You didn't mention the model no.
2.If you have any other wireless computer in your house, check with that if it also has the same issues. Try checking with new and old wireless devices.
3.If finally, you conclude that its only this Belkin adapter that is responsible for intermittent connection, then:
3a. Uninstall the Belkin adapter's utility and drivers from control panel(Add/Remove programs)
3b.Go to http://en-us-belkin.com/support and download the latest drivers for your model.
3c. Unplug the adapter and run the downloaded setup file. (Setup will walk you through from here)

But i could have helped you better if you had mentioned the model or part number along with the version of it.

Are you trying to install the router.
You can do it manually without the CD.
MAke sure that your computer is able to go online through the modem.
If your computer is able to go online through the modem
Then you need to connect the computer to the router ad the modem to the router.
open the set up page of the router and change the settings of the router according to the ISP.
